OK, Aki has posted this a couple of times and it keeps getting lost in the mire. So at his request, here's a sticky.


Direction to Daikoku Futo

For those visiting Japan who want to go to Daikoku Futo, but do not have access to a ride or a car (or for that matter, for anyone who can't drive to Daikoku Futo for whatever reason), the following are instructions on how to get there by train/taxi:

From Tokyo/anywhere other than Yokohama - essentially you will want to first take a train to the nearest train station to Daikoku, from where you can then take a taxi (this is the most economical method). Alternatively, you could simply get to Yokohama station, a very large/major station, and take a cab from there, if you don't mind parting with a few more yen (maybe 3000 yen extra, not sure but at least??)

Or, if you happen to be in Yokohama already, and don't want to get on a train again (or especially, if you are at the tourist spots of Yokohama Chinatown or Yamashita Park - in which case it makes no sense to get on the train, you're already really close to Daikoku!), skip down to the Taxi section below:

Train:
Several train companies will take you to Yokohama station(***27178;***27996;***39365;***65289;. JR East, Tokyu, Keihin Kyuko all go there. Note some train lines may be faster than others (ie JR Tokaido line.). At Yokohama station, transfer to the JR Keihin Tohoku line. From there, take this train and get off at the third stop after Yokohama station, Ishikawa-cho station (***30707;***24029;***30010;***39365;***65289;. This might be the easiest route if you begin your journey on JR (as the transfer is easy, and you only pay for one ticket).

Alternatively, if you feel a bit more adventurous, you can transfer at Yokohama station to the Minato-Mirai line, run by another transit company (if you came on JR, exit the JR gates, then purchase another ticket at the Minato-Mirai line gates). Here, get on the Minato-Mirai train, and get off at the fifth and last stop, Motomachi\Chukagai station***12288;(***20803;***30010;***12539;***20013;***33775;***34903;***39365;***65289;.

Taxi:
As you exit either station, head towards the taxi stands***12288;(***12479;***12463;***12471;***12540;***65289;. Japanese taxis, you enter on the left side (watch the automatic door!).

Ask the taxi driver to take you to the
DAI KOKU FU TOH PEE AY. (P.A., or PARKING AREA).

To get BACK, it is highly advisable that you check and confirm with a local member on this board and arrange a ride back to the nearest station. The trains will generally stop running around 2330~2415 (the last runs of the night may not go all the way to Tokyo, btw), so plan accordingly (ie if you get on a train by 2300, you should be ok).

Who knows, if the locals are nice/in a good mood, they may even drive you back to Tokyo if they are headed that way!

[Drifting Film]

I am doing a documentary on Drifting. I know and have interviewed guys who do it professionally in FD and D1. I don't want to mention any names but I was there when he won 2012 FD championship and I sat with him for an interview for about an hour. I am going to be interviewing him again after he wins D1GP. I know all the top FD Guys perosnally! The stories I can tell!!!!!

I am waiting to hear if I get the Media pass for D1 this weekend.

I am writing because I want to capture the true heart of drifting, the Hashiriya.

No Names, No Shots of Faces, No shots of license plates, All low profile to protect you. Unless of course you want to be famous street drifter.
I am staying in Odaiba and will be at D1GP Saturday and Sunday. I hope some of you will take me around and show me the real drifting. hoping to get Daikoku Foto and Touge Drifitng. I have go pros and Canon 7d and broadcast camera as well to capture high res images from a number of angles.

I am willing to do interviews, hopefully it make it seem very dangerous and like you need to protect your identity in shadow or silhouette. Dramatic effect or real for you I don't care. I am also willing to do full face on camera interview if you like. If you want to hang out with the top drifters and D1GP Officials I will be doing a series of interviews all next week and you can come along.
This documentary already has worldwide distribution behind it, including here in Japan

thanks for the info akasa...that sucks. Im here till next Monday, but doubt ill be able to check it out if this goes on this friday/sat, friends are flying in this thurs for Bachelor party weekend before we are off to the PI for his wedding.

IF i were to go... this Fri and Sat. night would be the 2 nights to go on eh?

Hey everyone this is my first post on here and I'm in Tokyo right now staying at an apartment in Shinjuku til the 7th of this month. I want to head out to daikoku this Friday(Jan 4th) or Saturday(Jan 5th). Will there be anyone meeting up on either of those nights? I'd have to take a cab there since I have no other means of transportation. Any info is greatly appreciated!

Hello, this is also my first post here. I will be staying in Tokyo (Ginza? Maybe) 31st of this March until the 6th of april.

I've been dreaming to get here all my life, and it'd suck if I can't get back! If anyone will be interested to help me get back to the nearest station or such? As my family cannot afford the atrocious taxi prices.

I'll be there with my dad, so having another seat in your car seems a good idea.
