Not uninterested

Skyline owners are a very interested crowd in the main. Some of these guys, and there's plenty of threads to document it, will think nothing of dropping their engine out themselves on a whim in a morning because they can. I do think ownership types has changed massively with prices reaching the same level for a 32/33GT-R as a new Matiz etc. This changes the dynamic of the type of owner as well as factoring the age of the cars, not everyone will be able to spend on the upkeep and so they simply don't.

I couldn't say for sure whether Robinsons used a stress plate to do the bore. I wonder if anyone has any measurements of the bore change due to the use of a stress plate, and what the variation is to when clamped by the head. Does the cast iron block alter that much under compression?

I do know I'll be running mine in using the "hard driving technique" to ensure my rings/barrell interface are as tight as can be.
