anyone upgraded their R33 GTST gearbox??

my 2nd one is just coming to the end of its life

dont want to stick another 2nd hand one in it, so was wondering if anyone else has upgraded theirs and if so with what?

heard of a few guys down here in NZ running PPG gearsets from australia with no complaints. i think theyre very reasonably priced too.

How do you break an R33 T box in a 2 wd car ?

Given that they have the same internals as a GTR box and they handle mid 600's in awd, You would need some serious traction to break a sweat in 2wd, I wouldnt think 500hp in 2wd would worry one.
See if you can find one of the last R33 gtr boxes made, they will easily take 700hp awd
Or PAR / Pfitzner / OS / etc:
Do quaife make one ?

Can you tell us what is happening to the box? Is it a stripped gear, or is it worn synchro's (crunchy gear changes)?

IIRC John Bradshaw ran a stock box for quite some drag events without managing to break it. His car was running well over 600bhp, and used drag slicks/ prepped track, so I too would be surprised if road tyres/tarmac would give enough grip to damage the gears.

alstars car makes a lot more than 500
