New Stereo
Hi Folks
I'm looking for a new headunit for my 33. I'm specifically looking for Ipod connectivity and bluetooth. Research so far seems to suggest that the ALPINE-IDAX305 is the way to go in terms of sound quality and connectivity. Has anyone out there owned one and could comment or knows of a better unit? Are there any websites/forums out there that are worth viewing for further investigation in terms of what set up works with particular styles of music? I will probably be upgrading the door mounted speakers while I'm at it, any recommendations? Cheers Sean

Hi Sean,
I've got this head unit in my WRX and it's great for Ipod connection, without a doubt this is the best direct Ipod connecting head unit on the market. Email me for more advise if you need it mate, but you won't go far wrong buying one of these! Mark.

Cheers Mate
It makes all the difference when someone's opinion you trust gives it the thumbs up. Is the unit Bluetooth ready out of the box or do you have to buy the Parrot unit (£128!) as well? The Alpine website isn't that clear about that. I'd also read about software freezes occuring on the earlier version of this, have you had any issues with yours? Cheers Sean BTW the 33 is revving unbelievably smoothly and pulling like a train at the moment, this is before Rod remaps it and turns the boost up!

Sean, not sure on the bluetooth thing, all I know is that it's bluetooth ready??
Mine has frozen the ipod a couple of times, but thats easy to reset. I bought mine in the first week they became available, so maybe they updated them to stop this happening...I'll look into this. I bet the 33 is transformed Sean, be a blast with a good map and the right boost! Cheers, Mark.

sound quality connectivity etc alpines are good. but, you need an extra adaptor to make this one bluetooth.
Have always found pioneers to be good that way, still well built but usually a little cheaper for more features. have a gander DEH P7100bt

Cheers Mava although I did mention Bluetooth its the Ipod connectivity that I'm most interested in, the bluetooth is a bonus.
The price of the two units is the same but the screen of the Alpine swings it for me so order going in tomorrow - Cheers
