Toad AI606

Has anyone fitted one of these alarms themselves? Are they easy to fit?

Phoned the insurance company today to find out if self fitment is ok, and just need to get a garage or main dealer to veryfy installation afterwards.

I've fitted alarms before, but not a Toad alarm.

Not any harder than any other CAT1 alarm, but they did not normally come supplied with any instructions or wiring diagrams? These are only supplied to their authorised dealers via a website login.

Dave.

Fitting a cat 1 is not easy, but can be done but if its not fitted 100% then you will not get an insurance cert and thats what you need.

A self installation would need to be inspected by a VSIB approved installer to get the stamp that makes it certified for the insurance companies.

Think they charge around £40 to verify a self installation!!

BIG SMOKE, for what reason, don't you think much of the AI606?

gavoh, the feedback I received about the Toad was that it was very reliable, compared to a lot of other alarms.

I also looked at the Clifford, a good alarm, but didn't seem to be as reliable, so that's why I opted for the Toad.

And after you had it checked, what was wrong with it?

It might not be the alarm, it could be the way it was installed!!

Mines never once gone off when it shouldn't have!!
Do you have 'other' features installed i.e. shock sensor etc?

The other feature I have is the text alert with motion sensor.

It's a pay-as-you-go sim built into the unit, and my own phone is the host, which receives any text alerts......Quite clever I thought!!

I can also send commands to the unit from my phone.
