Veyron GT - 264mph, 1350bhp

New 264mph Bugatti Veyron GT next year? - Auto Trader UK - News and Reviews Hub

Quote:
The SSC Ultimate Aero TT’s reign as the world’s fastest car could be under threat after a memo suggesting a new 264mph Bugatti Veyron GT.

Bugatti is yet to confirm whether this memo is official but if true, the Bugatti Veyron GT should make its world debut at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show in March.

In standard guise, the 253mph Bugatti Veyron (pictured) is powered by an 8-litre engine developing 1,001bhp and 922lb/ft of pulling power.

But the Bugatti Veyron GT eclipses this – developing an enormous 1,350bhp and 1017lb/ft of pulling power.

This accelerates the Veyron GT from 0-62mph in 2.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 264mph – smashing the 257mph achieved by the American-built SSC Ultimate Aero TT last year.

Bugatti Veyron owners such as X-Factor judge Simon Cowell will also have the opportunity to take their 253mph hypercars to the car maker’s factory to have the power upgrade.

If built, the GT is the latest new derivative of one of the world’s most impressive cars following the recent launch of the 250mph Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport – the world’s fastest ever convertible.

With the standard Veyron costing around £850,000 the GT model is likely to cost in excess of £1 million – making it one of the world’s most expensive cars.

However, this is considerably less than the Koenigsegg CCX-R which is currently for sale on Auto Trader for a cool £1.5 million.

what's the bloody point of this now...
i guess human nature of trying to show my gun is bigger than yours wll never stop.

So it goes 264mph.. i'd like to see how many Veyron owners would ever get close to that, let alone ever achieve it on a road.

this whole Veyron thing for me is Verywrong. misses the whole point.

seems like the most spectacular cars will no longer be those that are quickest in terms of outright speed, but those that set new benchmarks in terms of other dynamics. There are plenty of cars that are crazy in a straight line these days. Nobody cares. We're probably going to look at performance cars that have super fuel efficiency, come with racing hardware from the factory that now work as a daily driver, have fancy KERS or something along those lines.

Veyron at 264mph.. really.. who gives a damn..

not only is it fairly pointless, the only place on the planet where you can essentially run the Veyron that fast is at the Volkswagen test track. Booking a run costs 30,000 Euros, not including the cost of shipping your car there.

I'm sure the veyron owners can afford that, a weekly stroll to the track in their transported veyron

but yeh it is getting crazy

I say its great,

Imagine you laid out ni on 1million, for the "fastest production car in the world" and then it gets beaten, You would look to your manufacturer to reclaim its title, as you now own the "second fastest production car in the world". Even tho bugatti know 99% of its customers would never go anywhere the limit, they are aware customers are going to turn to them for a reply.
I think its great customer service, and also very important to them as a company. They have raised the bar by alot and their customers must be happy again.

I reckon a lot of owners will get this upgrade done. BUT, I also reckon very few of them will exceed 253mph, let alone 264. IIRC only 10 owners so far have driven at 253. lol.

if I had that kind of money I wouldn't be driving it for top speed anyways, I'd want it so I could blow away sportbikes on the street!

Surely this would make the current veyron 3rd fastest production car, knocking it down the pecking order 1 more place.

Edit: Should of read the linky thingy. Then would of seen its an upgrade.

Actually, more like 4th.

1. SSCC Ultimate Aero 2009
2. Veyron GT
3. Koeniggsegg CCXR
(Koeniggsegg CCX?)
4. Veyron

But if I was doing 250mph I'd feel safer in the Veyron.

Don't forget the (theoretical) 300 mph 3500 mossler
