ive always shunned them due to the rotary noise!!! sounds like a wet fart to me, never liked it. dont go much on the interior either, im 5'7" and its so cramped feeling.
ive known of 3 owners and they all gave trouble (rotor tips and overheating)and the fuel thirst when driving hard puts the gtr in the economy bracket. that said they are truly awesome to drive, far more nimble than the gtr in tight twisties and at a guess id say a 400bhp rex is as quick if not quicker than a 500bhp gtr.... id look into the price of engine swaps like the 1 or 2jz. 1jz rex at 400bhp would be a great daily driver!!!!!!!

I had an FD3S RX7 & used it as my daily driver for over a year, Yes there a touch hard on fuel but a decent map helps that....A small bit...lol
I would say it was one of the best handling cars ive owned, Compared to a GTR its just so much lighter, faster, more nimble & can really cover ground at an increadible rate compared to higher HP cars, Eg 500hp GTR against a stage-1 Rex would have a very vey hard time around a decent twisty track... Wouldnt ever consider changing my GTR for one like Miguel (but i do know were your coming from mate) but i would definatly buy another one in the future, that is for sure...

out of interest how many miles would you expect from a standard rex engine if driven hard most of the time?

Sticking a fat heavy in-line six into a RX would be a sin. I'll bet a heavy tall engine would knacker the handling too. Might as well buy a Supra.

over the last few days i've been thinking more and more about rx7's since i saw one on a road near me .....sounded awesome and the shape is something else
i don't know how i never really noticed them before ... i'm getting an uncontrollable urge to add one to the stable a series 3 i think.. 93-94 somewhere around there a couple of questions ..what are the basic mods needed to release some power and how do spares prices compare to skylines and the 93-94 model i have seen have the electric fold away headlights i would want the flush glass headlight conversion what model do these come from and what is a good shop in the uk to buy rx7 spares from ....

I'm liking for FD a lot so far! I have a 1992 model with only 50000kms. She's been pretty good to me so far! Mine is all stock execpt for an HKS Super dragger exhaust. And boy does she sound nice at higher RPMs!
I'm slowly doing upgrades on her, starting with the reliability mods before making power.
