Question water is leaking...help needed!!

Hi,
I did use search button before posting this and I didnt find anything.

My problem is pretty weird as I was driving my gtr home from the garage where I was putting new turbos on the car,and everything seemed to be okay.

And while I was driving home from the garage which is about 8-10km´s
I noticed the water temp gauge was rising and I when I was slowing down as I was getting closer to a parking sport on the road,I heard a sound like when the hoses explode but no hose got exploded and the water is leaking out from the back of the engine...Im not sure what this can be.

When I put water on the radiator I can hear and see the water leak on the ground from the back of the engine, and when it has stopped and I start the engine for few seconds, the leaking starts again.

Here is an old pic of the back of my engine:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3571/...7315f88b_o.jpg

could this be anything that I put ring on on the picture?
could it be the lower cap that has red marked on it...has popped out of the engine?
I can feel the upper cap is still on.

Im starting to think that my GT-R hates me...

Cheers,
Teitur Yngvi

I think they're possibly burst discs that are meant to pop out if the water in the engine freezes and stop the block cracking
They shouldn't be missing but if they're designed to come out they should go back in.
What pressure are you running the cooling system at?

The top one gives access to the head oil / cam / valvspring / cam area.

The lower one gives access to the watersystem.

I have standard water pump, and I have nismo radiator cap that says 0,13MPa or 1,3kg/cm2

How can I see the waterpressure?

ps.I found out that the lower plug is gone.

Where can I get new ones?

and do I have to remove the engine again to replace them?

It will be easier to pull the gearbox.
Nissan can supply these. Or if you measure the diameter of the hole, you can maybe get it from a local car accessorie store.

hence they are normally called "Frost Plugs" you should be able to buy a generic kit with all different sizes in it - might as well change all that you can get to while you're at it.

Can I press the frost plug/core plugs in the hole with my fingers/hands or do I need some tool to do it like a soft hammer or something like that?

Seen them come out when a head lifts or a gasket has gone
