Which makes me laugh.....after all, the only person your going to injure in the event of an accident is yourself.

Wearing a helmet on a motorbike should be optional also, it's only the riders head that will feel the tarmac, no one elses.

I was stopped 3 weeks ago in Cornwall for my HKS dual dragger exhaust being loud. They did a full sound test and I only got a £30 fine so I wouldnt say this is true. Maybe it depends just how loud it is I guess.

After he finished wasting my time, I asked if they had been useful and caught the thieving scum who stole my dads motorbike 2 weeks before....he didnt reply!

I read an article on the BBC news about this the other day:
BBC NEWS | England | Sound meters tackle noisy drivers

The article says that exhaust noise should be between 82-89 decibels.
Since when? Is this a new law? I know MOT testing for exhaust noise is quite a gray area, I think it's something like "the exhaust noise should not be louder than stock". But how the hell would they know what's the stock noise on an import?

Also, there's no way a Lambo or a Ferrari's exhaust is 82-89 decibel loud.
So what's this all about?

Has this always been law but never really enforced?

If the idiots in the UK government had been clever they would abandon the point system. This way people who speed keep getting fines instead of fines + points. If one is caught once per week and recieves a £60 and 3 points, it takes a mere month before he's banned for 6 months. Which means the state won't get their £1440. Logic dictates that they should give the license back so it won't disrupt their cash flow

Okay, did a bit of digging and come up with the following;

I own a 1999/2000 u.k r34 gtr.

As we all know all gtr 's were imported at some stage of there life.

Now my gtr in particular, was first registered in 1999 and was at middlehurst for sale at the same year.

SVA exhuast noise regs for 1999 was 'not to exceed 101db' which the u.k r34 gtr's passed.

So because of the legal requirment of 101db of when my car passed the SVA test, does'nt that requirement still stand for my car because it is'supposedly' the same spec as when sold from nissan middlehurst.

Couldnt one argue that the car 'is as it was when first purchased and that l is not in a financally sound position to rectify it at this moment, besides why should l'

Do you think it may work?

Now, how can they enforce that if there's no db reference?
Does the highway code states how many db can a car produce?
They've been enforcing this in France for several years but the difference is that your car's registration papers states how much db your car can produce.

Don't really know if it would work over here...

Errr, how about the extra medical care the NHS will have to provide because some nonce chose not to wear a seatbelt or helmet?

Get thrown out of the window or smack your head after falling off a bike and I don't think there will be any need for the NHS
