David, you had me laughing when I read your report in the mag: "..I've fitted a Y-pipe to make it sound nice but it doesn't affect the power.."

Are you planning to fess up to the Cobb at some stage?

Read the Evo issue coming out on the 16th or Auto-Journals.com and all will be revealed...

Far scarier than revealing to the greater public (and hence, Nissan) that I have tuned the car, was confessing the same to the Brunette who only approved of another GT-R if I promised not to tune it!

It took bribery in the form of a couple of substantial diamonds (that I owed her for our two kids anyway) before I felt safe enough to tell her...

Email/PM him. One of the maps may be specific for cars with exhaust mods, but contact him and he will help.

That is Ben's USP in my opinion. He is an owner, enthusiast and developer, not merely a parts vendor.

Received an email from Ben yesterday which included the 99RON map my next question is will it be ok to load up the 99RON map on a completely stock car with no exhaust mods? could have sent Ben an email directly asking him this quesstion but thought it would be better in this thread so everyone can see the answer.

I must admit that with the 99Ron map the car was better balanced, in terms of fueling, with the full milltek exhaust.

Power delivery was instant, and there was no un-burnt fuel in the tail pipes, or rear valance.

The car would power slide out of corners with ease and the gear changes were smoother as the power was applied.

Missing the car already.

I would not recommend the 99 RON stage 2 on a completely stock car at this point. I have tested 97 RON stage 2 on a completely stock car and it pulls a little bit of timing running 99 RON on my example, but it really shouldn't be made any more aggressive for now until more development work is done.

People are stretching things slightly beyond the official recommendations by running stage 2 with just a Y-pipe, but that seems to be OK if it doesn't overboost.

Yeah, I'm sure Ben will chime in, but I believe Stage 2 is designed for at least a de-catted Y-pipe.

Chubby, come back to the Dark Side mate! You can always keep the RS4 for track duty and lugging the labrador around!

I must admit, it is only when you go back to a plain old 21st century sports car, that you realise just how advanced the 23rd century GT-R really is...

yup as echo'd here stick to stage 1 maps on stock car

I encourage users to send us their datalogs / look at it themselves and try out a dyno run. As well as keep an eye on boost and keep an eye on oil levels, pressure and temps given recent events in Germany.

Most Skyline owners have long learn't the art of keeping one eye on the road and one on the vitals.

Crikey, what are they doing with it? You didn't have it for the Academy day either, so it's been off the road for a hell of a long time...

Funny thing is, when you get it back, it still won't steer or handle as well as the GT-R!

Well you know how much I loved my Z06 and that is a far more suitable track day platform than the RS4, but five months with Godzilla and everything else just seems quaint and old-fashioned!

David - have or are you planning to do another run on the Surrey Rolling Road using Ben's latest Stage 2 99RON map + Y-pipe? I think it would be good mid point view before you head off into the custom tune world. Clearly I have a vested interest in this view as I loaded the Stage 1 97 map last night - which I will trial today before fitting a GTC Y-pipe tomorrow and hopefully moving onto the Stage 2 99RON map.

Finally a quick thanks to Ben - excellent service (responding to a barrage of queries on my part) followed by a very quick turn around on the delivery of new toys.

Yes I am. In fact I've organised a dyno day at SRR on the 10th October for anyone else who wants to come along. Thread here: http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/123878-dyno-day-2-a.html

I confidently predict you will be blown away by the Y-pipe and Stage 2 99RON! Just get a TomTom and install the Shell and Tesco 99 petrol station POIs. You'll never want to be without 99 in your tank!

(But if you do run out and have to put inferior fuel in for a tankful, you can just download a different map, which is the beauty of the Cobb. Keep it in the car at all times.)
