Store Data in GT-R's black box
Does anyone know how much and what standard data is stored and can be retrieved by the HPC?
I ask this as I'm looking to tune the car a little, and I don't want to effect the warranty or re-sale value. I also don't want the 'Rossers' being able to tell I was doing 190mph on Tuesday at 5:30pm...... I know it stores oil temps, what else...??? Regards, R.

Get friendly with your HPC.. That box stores everything!!
If you thrash it - they know If you tune it - they know If you launch it - they know Basically most decent HPC's will allow warranty claims aslong as its not obvious that you caused the failure.. Meanwhile no 'funny-business' in the motor as... you got it... THEY KNOW!! ![]()

Apprantly and it makes sense, that from the temps, etc they can even tell which track you have been driving! So don't even think or there know lol

... and the manual (which I have actually read!) does warn that all data captured is treated sensitively (in line with EU data protection regulations) BUT may be handed over to the authorities if requested... from section 9-11 in the manual: Quote:
I can't quite believe I have just typed all that in... think I need to go for a drive now ![]()

1. Left foot floors brake. 2. Right foot floors accelerator. 3. Car revs to ~3,500 revs and holds there... 4. Release brake for launch. Should do 0-60 in 3.6-3.7 in Auto.

2. Being encrypted I assume HPC/Nissan only (for now, hopefully somebody will crack it and allow modification..... )3. Nope. Assumed it is kept for the life of the car.

If the data is stored for the life of the car - then that would mean that a person buying the car, second hand could find out how the car has been driven and possibly where it has been driven.

I believe they are cleared every time that your car is checked/serviced by the HPC - makes sense as if there is no warranty issues then there is no piint having the history.

there is certain data that is kept forever (you can goto your dealer and ask how many launchs the car has on it, even years down the road, great for buyers of used gt-r's.). then there is the flickr box that keeps data for 38 hours iirc. this data can be cleared but the dealer will know that you did it to hide something and there for deny warranty (if they are that smart). also when u reflash the ECU it changes a pin number so that the dealers see this and know that it has been flashed, regardless if you had it uninstalled for months or whatever.
its said that a HALTECH ecu addon can not be detected by consult3. so that may be the best choice but haltech is dangerous in the wrong hands, so its expensive to purchase and expensive to tune, but well worth it givin the performance and since it removes the limits like limp mode and the advanced technology it packs in.
