Great news. You had to wait and complain a lot, but at the end of the day, you had a modified engine replaced under warranty which is a result in my book!
(N.B. for those who can't be bothered to read this whole thread, do not, for one second, assume that Nissan will always replace a modded engine if it blows. I believe this issue was a specific LHD batch that they have acknowledged a production problem with.)

I'd like to know more about the batch problem - is it really only LHD cars? My EU-RHD car VIN ends with quite a low number......... a lot lower than 300!

lowest number i know of is 34,highest is 305....make your own opinion. The way Nissan Germany treated me was for sure not ok and i hope they will send me a nice letter with their appologies for wasting my time and making my head ![]() If they dont do it,my lawyer will get in touch with them ![]() Nissan could have ended it far sooner, without all the negativ words from me,it was their choice to do it that way,not mine......... Best regards Alex PS: i hope the new engine will last how it should....

Think it has nothing to do with LHD or RHD, more to do that you lucky b****rds in Germany have still some unrestricted Highways. In fact, who says that later VIN numbers are unaffected? It was rather the early VIN numbers who have been for a while past their 2K check and could floor it.

I don't understand how the Euro LHD cars would be affected, RHD wouldn't, USA LHD cars are obviously not affected (and USmodel engines are older than either RHD or LHD Euro ones)
I have to admit that I am a bit scared for my engine, it is SatNav car, it is waiting for me in Duesseldorf...I hope it doesn't have the problem...

Alex perhaps you can now share whatever insights you have as to the cause of the failure?
Do you think it is an isolated problem or could it affect any R35? Finally, what can be done to prevent/cure it?

![]() On my car there has been some problem with the engines timingchain i think,as the engine didn´t turn anywhere....not left, not right, totally stuck(which normaly not happens when its just the bearings or something like that)......i had the feeling that something inside the timingchain cover must have been broken and then blocked the engine completly from one second to the other....the first 2 crank and conrodbearings looked fine from what you could see from the oilpanside...maybe something to the last bearings happend, but the first looked fine,no blue color somewhere,no damage/scratches... Im not guessing what maybe could be the reason what broke...we will for sure know it sometime ![]()

The number of cars affected is considerably less than thr higher number offered by Alex and is only LHD drive cars most/all of which went to Germany and Belgium. Unfortunately I don't have all the details, number etc. but do know it is being managed. As far as the information I have Nissan have identified the issue and a solution and will be in touch with the affected owners. I am sure there will be an announcement soon but Nissan seem to have a policy of getting everything 100% confirmed before they even squeek! Whilst this may be their policy and one can see some sense in it, it does leave us all guessing and waiting, which ultimately can't be a good thing. Getting Nissan to change their policy might be difficult at best
I also think there is a disconnect between some parts of Nissan and how it is delat with in some quarters isn't always the best way but guess that's down to a number of things not least of which is different regulations, policy, culture etc.
