Sorry to bring up an old thread but is there any development on the best LED bulb to use for sidelights in the headlight cluster? I like the look of the bright ones from the NAGTROC forum (link above). Has anyone used these? Have had a look at them on the internet and they look abit...homemade?

What has everyone else used? Eventually want the nissan LED daylight runners but can't afford them as of yet.

Cheers!

I used the LEDs from that article and they work perfectly, good price too if you can navigate the horrible supplier website I also did interior lights, door lights (that light the floor etc. at night) and the boot- my only regret was not doing the glovebox at the same time as it's now the last yellow-ish light in the car... all in cost around $85 including shipping. I keep meaning to take some pics and post... don't hold your breath.

is it the same LED lamps for the sidelights as it is for the boot, doors, glove box etc? How bright are the LED sidelight lamps you used? The actual fixture looks a bit c**p in the pictures, can you see them in the head light? Do they bring up any warning lights on the dash? Sorry for all the questions

I want to go for the ones found in David Yu's post but these are much cheaper.

Ozzy, in answer:

1. No - not all the same LED bulbs. You should use the kit list on the Nagtroc page (the article lists all of the bulbs you need for each application area)... if you can't find the details let me know and I will try to provide a list

2. The bulbs are all VERY bright - they are superb. In all cases the bulb is significantly brighter and whiter than the one it replaces... so much so that you will wonder what the hell is going on when you first open a door in the dark - the whole cabin is illuminated! Similarly, the first few times you open the boot in the dark you will be amazed that the entire space is brightly lit!

3. They do look crappy on the website, agreed, and I was worried that they might throw off uneven light or look odd in some way... but they don't. The fitting of all the bulbs I did was very easy, and I have no problems except I did have a problem with one of the sidelight lamps working its way loose a few times... in the end I wrapped a thin band of electrical tape around its base, and then taped it into the holder with a single band of tape - no problems since... and lovely white light

4. No warning lights anywhere - the car is perfectly happy with all the bulbs. Bear in mind that whilst the LEDs are brighter than the bulbs they replace, and present the same resistance, they draw massively less current - so they are easier on the electrical system and more environmentally friendly... not that eco-credentials should worry anyone driving a car which struggles to make it past 20mpg

Just checked your original NAGTROC link and realised that I worked from a different page - a very detailed set of instructions from d-pak's blog - I would recommend you work from there.

Ozzy, fasteronline is currently putting together a lighting package .. however if you cannot wait look back on page 4 of this thread for my post you'll find the hyperlinks for uk suppliers (PIAA sidelights from fasteronline) and fitting instructions.

Everything you need to know is on this page from dpak at NAGTROC. The website that sells the bulbs (SUPER BRIGHT LEDS - LED Lights & Accessories) is pretty hard to navigate (I can't send you a link to the bulbs themselves - sorry!), but the instructions at the end of the dpak's article are spot on.

Good luck!

Hi,
Any help with these led's would be appreciated. I have gone to the fella in the USA blog, but I can't even find the first bulb. Not sure if the site has changed, or me being thick (thick probably)
The bulb Pure White WLED-WHP I just can't seem to find, saying that, I haven't looked for the others yet. Thanks

I replaced my sidelights a few months ago and posted a before and after picture on here. I can't find the thread, but the bulbs that were plug and play cost less than a fiver per pair from Ebay......

Yeh i got them for <£4 from him like you not so long ago.

Maybe he hasn't got them and is trying to put people off buy them? (trying to avoid the obvious explanation of blatant profiteering having seen the link posted to his page!)

I think the £29.99 price is for a pack of 10 of the bulbs - though given that it seems to be £3.50 for 2 I'm not sure he's got his maths right there...

Anyone tried the 25 LED bulbs? Apart from looking a bit bulky, I can't think of a reason why I shouldn't go for that rather than the 4, 5, 8 or 9 SMD LED bulbs that are the same price.

Both these options are so much cheaper than the £60 PIAA choice it seems I might as well give them a go...
