Yes mate it is a wooden wheel lol i was woundering how long it would take before someone said something. The one on my car is Ron's [ RK ]

But it's not the one i'm going to be using as i have a carbon one.

Cheers Mikster i know what your saying but why did the FIA ban 4wd in circuit racing? was it because it was an unfair advantage over the 2wd cars?

Sorry hope neilo's thread doesn't get spammed up because I'm asking this but curiosity is getting the better of me. Can I ask why you think 2wd is better then 4wd? Just want to know because I've never had a 4wd skyline round a track. Surely the front wheels pulling the nose of the car into and out of the corner is altogether better no???

Still watching every post neilo. Keep it coming

I can understand what Mikster saying as having less weight by not having all the 4wd parts is always good and that 4wd can cause understeer if not setup correctly but you only have to look at all the 4wd skyline models which have raced in the past with 4wd and against 2wd cars where the skylines have dominated! maybe thats why 4wd was banned?

Lol, yeah I reckon he will, especially with all the stuff you guys are doing. I'll hope to catch up with you there one day chap, not only for a good old GTR chat but Steve was telling me about all the bits your making and although some isn't right for the direction I'm taking mine I'm sure there's some stuff I'll want from you, all looks top kit.

I did mean to do a build thread on mine but having not done it as I go I've got a bit of catching up to do, see if I get a chance over xmas

Nice looking engine you got there, what bore are you running?
Is this a custom made hideck block or on off the os-giken/kakimoto kits?
How thick is the spacer plate?

And could you please tell us more about the boring process?

This is an RK Tuning 3ltr bottom end which uses a deck plate 24mm thick and Ductile flanged liners, I'm sticking with 86mm bore and stroke.

After speeking to a few well known engine engineers to find out how they went about installing liners etc, I made my mind up on which way to go as the others i spoke to would treat each individual bore seperatly and centralise each cylinder before boring which is fine if the casting from the manufacturer is perfect BUT that is not always the case!

The company who i used would centralise the cylinders from 1 t 6 off the crank so you know they are perfectly inline and upright with each other which in my eyes is the best way to go especially on a race engine.

Lol Grinder it is a bit.

That makes sense, pi x r^2 x h x 6 cyls where r=43, h=86 gives 3 litres

Thanks for sharing. Its interesting to see another style of hi-deck thats not an OS30 engine.

I noticed there isnt any dowels to locate the head to the plate, or are they just not pictured?

Also there seems to be a step in the alignment between trear oil return holes in the plate and the top of the block. Its worth drilling these so they are the same size all the way through to the sump.

I hope you will post pics of the whole build of the engine.
