Been reading with interest, and in total agreement, as one that will do approx 5k per year.
Just one more thing that detracts from the ownership experience of a great car

I have now had a reply from Nissan and basically they won't budge. Their view is that it's not just about the oil, but they want the car inspected every 6 months to ensure it is always up to it's best performing standards. Like most of this, this comes from Japan (aka Mizuno) and it doesn't seem like something that Nissan Europe can change on their own, even if they had the inclination to do so.
To be honest this sort of nonsense is just embarrassing. Nissan targeted Porsche and happily put on posters how they are better than Porsche. It's a shame then that Porsche can build a car that will last 24 months before a time-based service, whereas Nissan can only last 6 months. The 'precious' attitude from Japan about the GTR is frankly very annoying, this is just a car, not a Faberge Egg........

I suppose only the HPC can really answer this, but if my car has done less than 200 miles since the 6,000 mile service (done at 1,100 miles) and I don't comply with performing a 12,000 mile service, my warranty is out the window?
Wish I'd not held off nearly 2 years for a UK car now and just bought an import.....

In extremis, a GTR professionally stored over winter in a proper facility for 6 months, with say a run every month for 5 miles to ensure lubrication etc would still need another service after doing those 30 miles. Insanity!

According to a recent article in Auto car a Ferrari kept for 3 years would cost £2400 for basic servicing.
At my HPC the GT-R will cost approx £3600 and yes even if you have done no mileage you still have to have the service. IMO there are 210 owners on here now so lets all go independent. I think the HPC's may have something to say to Nissan when their takings go down. On the other hand they may not give a toss! Power to the people (wolfie smith is innocent)

But I thought Japan had relaxed the rules and changed the interval to 12 months for their domestic customers?! Sounds like an excuse from Nissan Europe. How can Nissan impose different rules in different regions?

Nissan Japan Lowers the Cost of GT-R Maintenance | Nissan GT-R News - GTRBlog.com
This was posted earlier in the thread Guy, although no one has confirmed whether it is fact.

I can't believe we are struggling to get confirmation on this simple question. Can some R35 owners who are based outside of the EU post what the service schedule is for their cars please.

Unless the oil has hit the red line (temp wise) during that period then the only other issues of low usage vehicles are as follows (apologies if I am teaching anyone to suck eggs) :1) "Bore Wash", this happens on engines that generally run cold because of frequent stop/start operations and short duration with the excess fuel that is left un-burnt (high fuel/air ratios) running down the side of the cylinder bores causing dilutions of the engine oil along with the potential of accelerated bore/piston ring wear, not quite so bad for fuel injected vehicles as for the good old carb fuelled ones. 2) "Condensation", caused once again by short journey and engine blocks/engine oil not being warm enough to "burn off" the water content that has settles in the sump. Both my recent Audis have had 20000 miles service intervals which the onboard system would update based on an oil sample test it carried out and a regular basis, unfortunately Nissan (even with all the tech in a R35) did not bother to install a system that simple. If you use your GT-R for just a couple of miles per week then both points above hold true and it would be worth changing your oil and filter every 3000 miles or 6 months IMHO. However, if you just took you car out at weekend and did 100 miles running then the 6000 mile / 12month rule would be the best one. Cheers Arcam Master Tech and all round nice guy!

I have 2009 Black Edition GTR.
My service interval is every 10 000 km or every 12 months. This is how its done in Finland. Every 6 months seems kinda stupid...
