It's doing my head in please help.

I can't take a song from my itunes playlist and use it as a ringtone.

As it won't let me drag the song on to the ringtone option i have about 20 odd gigs of tunes on the ipod part of the iphone but can't use any for a ring tone just the factory tunes and there pants.

I only got the phone this afternoon so still trying to learn how to fully use it

yes you can use a song from your itunes playlist as a ring tone.....

you can only use part of the song (any part you like) and it can only be 30 sec long.

if you wont to use ur music for ringtones go to the app store and download app called (ringtones) it has a pic of a yellow star

the app tells you step by step how to use your music as ringtones
its great u can pick from any were in the track

I got to cut the song to the lengh i wanted and converted it to aac.

I opened it in explorer to change it from a m4a to a m4r but i couldn't find how to change it.

On the app it says for windows you mite need to use tools but i didn;t have it as an option at the top so am stuck AGAIN

hi go to your window button then control pannel when box pops up there is some tabs with file edit view tools and help

click on the tools tab then folder options there is 3 tabs general view and serch click on view tab and uncheck the box titled hide extensions for known file types

that will let you change your file name then drag to desktop then delete the 30sec clip from your itunes

then ad your ringtone on your desktop back to ringtones section of itunes

connect and sync

once synced open settings on ur iphone click sounds then ringtone ur ringtone will be custom ringtones select it and enjoy

You can do it in itunes mate, can be a bit hit & miss but defo can be done.

The original file format must be AAC.

iTunes does annoy the hell out of me & the fact you need it for such a great phone. The whole rig-ma-role you need to go through to do the simplest things that are a piece of p*** on other phones is just frustrating!

I think it's an awesome piece of software Kriss, been using it for nearly 10 years now. It just needs to be set up right and get your head around the way it does things.

Beats the daylights out of windozzzz media player and winamp, IMHO.

My first piece of advice would be turn synch option off...it sucks!
