Pull it apart, clean it up and then rebuild it, you will regret it the moment it leaves your possesion. It will cost you more to get back into one later. Hell park it for a year and just amass parts, start with a clean bore.

My R32 GTR is off the road at the mo with a blown turbo. That's the first time it's broken and I was considering getting shot of it. I have persevered though and I'm replacing the turbos myself. It's a slow process as I'm no mechanic but I'm getting there. I'm glad I didn't get rid of it as I'm really looking forward to driving it again now.

Keep your chin up and get it back on the road.

stick with mate.... i have had engine done 7 times in 4 years now. on no. 8 and going strong.

you dont mention a harmonic balancer in your spec. this is ESSENTIAL. espacially when spending that kind of money. without it, rev past 7900rpm and BANG.
i have learnt this the hard way.

U'll only regret it and for all you'd get for selling .

But over this way we all seem to be rebuilding engines every year or so! I think we are doing something wrong here. Robby Ward has proven that these engines can be reliable. Or is it something different on the RB30 engines?
rb30s break too... it's just Robby builds everything so well.

Plus, here's the crucial bit I reckon...rb26s rev high to make big power, but to rev high everything needs to be relly up to scratch...rb30s dont need to rev so much, but can if built well.

so both rb26 n rb30 needs to built well but rb30 more tolerant if somethings not spot on as it dont rev as much?

have you found out what caused the failure yet?

if i was in your shoes id probably go rb30 ,if the block is ok you could sell it on and get some money back

Do you know what size bore your engine has? if its not too oversized you maybe able to just rebore and fit new pistons which is going to be cheaper than a complete bottomend etc. You will also need to spend some time looking into what went wrong as you will not want the same thing to happen again. This may not be easy to do until the car is running again but you need to find a reason.

We do a basic RB30 short engine with forged pistons from £2800 but if you are on a budget a new set of pistons would workout cheaper as fitting a RB30 also requires some extra work to pipework etc.

Mate i feel for you i too have had a really bad run in with my car and its only cause i live so far away from any decent mechanics.
So i have to rebuild myself on on my second engine never mind rebuilt.
Im approx on my forth rebuild if you include first bearing ran, second conrod through the block, third new engine and forth engine out after 1200kms now to built on a 1200kms block.
i recon you got a head problem there ... not bottom end.
