You're a serial tinkerer, Leo!

Make sure it's nice and cold outside, preferably freezing, then go inside and hammer that sound deadening... till it leaves home!

Looking forward to seeing the cage you build.

Saw a GT-R on the Tomei highway on it's way back from Fuji circuit (presumably) with an upside down V of diagonal bars reinforcing the front bar (About the same depth on the A pilar as sun visors). Looked very tough.
Maybe an idea, although welding the A and B pilars to the cage with suitable sheet metal is also good.

You're never going to roll your car though - surely!

You going to be seam welding your engine bay when you take out the lump this winter?

More car prep porn coming, then eh. Good stuff!

Guilty

Will use some dry ice to get the sticky stuff out easier

Would love to do a full weld in cage tho but as it's primarily a road going car it should remain street legal as far as possible (at least parts that can be easily spotted )...

...unfortunately here in Austria there's only a bolted in half cage/roll bar allowed by our authorities

And no, I hope I'll never roll it tho

Also thought about seam welding my engine bay but I'm afaraid this will bust my time shedule and therefore it will have to wait until my car gets a full restoration like Bobsters car got this year (I know I'll bite my ass off if I can't drive it again next summer ).

Cheers,

Leo

I'll build a bolt on one as carriage costs from JP would be higher than material costs when I buy the tubing here...

steel

We use T45 20MnV6 for roll cages

its a FIA standard and we take it from a motorsport specialty dealer in Germany including all certificates.
Not cheap though

Use to have a supplier from the plane maintanace crew - he supplied special steel by aero spec - ultra light weight and super strong. Exceeds FIA specs.

Take care
Thomas
