Last weekend I continued work on my engine bay and took car of some small rusty spots before they get worse...

... used a brass wire brush to get rid of all the brown stuff and used some sanding paper afterwards before I applied 2 layers of 2K epoxy ground

Also removed some spot welded plates that are no longer needed. You can also see where I made up a hole for my custom cold air supply (will get up more pics of this as soon as it's finised)

The worst rusty areas were under the bonnet and door hinges

It looked like the old Nissan sealant that was applied around the hinges wasn't really sealing properly anymore so some water got between the hinges and the chassis and started rusting. I'll use some new sealant once I put them back on and paint them afterwards.

When the bottom door hinges are reinstalled, the top ones will get the same treatment.

Cheers,

Leo

Your new Koyo rad, Nismo injectors and Greddy pulley kit will all be on their way tommorow morning, buddy.
Was hoping you'd get back on the road soon, but looks to me as if you're about to repaint the engine bay. You don't do things by halves!

Yeah, thanks a lot buddy

Also managed to get my hands on a second hand set of PS lines from Abbey in the UK, so now I really have all parts together and my engine will get back in soon

I'm afarid it will take me at least another month until it's completely finished (especially as I'm on holiday for a week in Croatia with my missus in two weeks) but it's fine. And the next season I can enjoy right from the start

Yep repainting the engine bay (at least partly) is on my schedule too

Cheers,

Leo

At Aki's advice I got my self some braided turbo oil and water feed line from Hose Solutions in the UK (thanks for the link Bobster )...

... unfortunately they came without fitting instructions and so I have no idea how they should be fitted, especially as one of the hoses has a banjp on each side

Anyone any ideas where which hose should go???

Cheers,

Leo

Send a message via MSN to gijsje
i also have the complete kit but it did not fit very good
One bend is wrong and one coupling was wrong
I still need to take pictures and send it to them.
My engine is still on a stand so it will be easy to do but i have to find the time

Damn, I was afraid they are wrong right after I unpacked them

Next problem is that all supplied banjos are for M12 banjo bolts, but the OEM water banjo bolts are M14

Thanks for the info mate, I already sent them an E-mail telling them that I think that they are wrong, will see what they say.

Cheers,

Leo

Update on the braided line issue! They fit

There are only two things you have to do, first is to turn the hose with the bend for 180°...

...this will work with no problems and Ben from Hel Performance ensured me that this will not influence the sealing in anyway

And the second thing is that you need a M12x1 banjo bolt, which is missing in the kit, so you can attach the hose with the two banjos to the oil connector on the block to the side facing towards cylinder #1...

...just contact Hel Performance and tell them that this banjo bolt is missing and they'll send it to you for free

They also sent me the two 14mm banjos that were missing in my kit, so everything's fine now

Will post up some pics once I have them fitted.

Already told Ben that it would be good to include this banjo bolt in the kit right from the start as you need it anyway and then it's more obvious where and how the hoses connect

Cheers,

Leo

Well done, Leo - glad to hear you found the solution.
You're one step closer to having the Skyline smile back

Thanks mate!

I'm hooking it directly to the front bumper feed hence I relocated the oil cooler to the driver side

Don't think it will be possible to drop the intakes down there with running twins and reasonable air filters though

But I'm already thinking about making a kind of air box for that area once everything is back in, so the filters are really sperated from the hot air in the engine bay...

Cheers,

Leo
