The story of my r33 gtr v spec so far...

Well i have been a member on here quite a while now, so i thought i'd show you how and what i've done to my gtr in the last 16months of ownership.

i moved on and up the ladder from a 450bhp gts-t r33 which was abit lairy to say the least, unfortunately i was involved in quite a bad accident (i was hit by a big old van over taking me at speed) and that was the end of that.

here she is/was

and how she ended up:

ouch indeed:

yep thats my blood

well after taking a year away from tuned cars, i made the natural progression to the gtr as a had driven a few before fortunately due to my job i knew i wanted one over anything else.

i finally found a midnight purple v spec with stage one mods and running 430bhp with printouts, it had all the right toys and ticked all the boxes. But the paint needed some touch ups and the wheels refurbing.

first thing was too completely underseal the car (pics on my mobile to be added)

my frst mods where clear nismo side repeaters, painted rocker covers, fusebox cover and repair/painted the front bumper.

next i fitted a cusco brake stopper, topsecret washer bottle/catch tank and a greddy cooling panel. I also got a new tein strut brace :

next up some new body bits, carbon ganador mirrors, carbon 400r front splitter, genuine top secret skirts and rear spats:

now at this point i had a little boy so things slowed down for a few months, so i played with carbon overlaying a few interior pieces:

i hardly use the car and was getting fed up of jump starting it, so i opted for one of these (best mod i have ever done!:

and some of these to go with my new alloy rad (both still not fitted)

well i gave the car a big service, but the cambelt had just been done fortunately and took the car to rising sun performance who had done lots of work for the last owner. while i was there i had new uprated coilpacks, plugs and some other bits done aswell as
a tune up on the rollers, it made 454bhp this time round which is very useable. minimal lag and great midrange.

now i love my detailed paint work, im quite ocd about it. but was fed up of the little imperfections in the paint, the car coukd really do with a respray.

as much as i love midnight purple, it had done its cause and i wanted something new and different without being to "show off" "chav"

so last week i got the car into my work and stripped her down for new paint, all glass out etc.

airiel hole welded and smoothed over

the prep work starts

as you can see the car was very straight and dent free, it just hadn't weathered well over the years, fortunately no rust though. skip a whole load of hard work, here it is in primer.

anyway, i wanted the reddest red that was ever red with a little sparkle. So i chose the colour and the sparkle, both house of kolor custom paints.

here is the outcome:

the car is still not quite finished, but i have it in one piece, im yet to flat and polish it but suffering bad from man flu and been at my desk all day

ive left off the repeaters and badges just to make buffing easier,

here it is as of 4:30pm today:

your notice the carbon boot which survived from the gts-t, it also has a camera in place of the lock

well, future plans are to finally fit some bits i have laying around such as: a alloy rad, do luck brake lines, new discs and uprated pads, samco hoses.

i want a very light good quality top secret carbon bonnet, new coilovers and possibly look at going for more power.

anyway, heres the spec as it stands.

Engine:

apexi pfc and hand commander
rsp coilpacks
ngk plugs
hks downpipes
kakimoto exhaust
decat
apexi induction kit
original recirculating valves removed
topsecret washerbottle/ catch tank combo
painted rocker covers
greddy cooling panel
etched ally fusebox cover
greddy profec-b boost controller
possible rebuilt steel internal turbo's (unable to confirm, but ex owner had them rebuilt)

transmission:

japspeed quick shift kit
exedy stage 1 uprated clutch (rsp supplied and fitted)
redline shock proof oil

suspension:

standard v spec shocks with hks springs
tein strut brace

Brakes:

cusco brake stopper
do luck braided brake lines

exterior:

nismo front and wing repeaters
400r carbon front splitter
genuine topsecret side skirts (with in built undertrays)
genuine top secret rear spats
carbon boot
genuine nismo n1 bonnet lip
carbon spoiler end caps
carbon ganador mirrors
house of kolor blood red with dry ice pearl metalflake

interior:

carbon dash surround
carbon arm rest
carbon steering cowel
nismo gear nob
apexi pfc hand commander
greddy profec-b
boost gauge in a pillar
apexi turbo timer
momo tuner steering wheel
nismo floor mats

well thats about it, i'll slowly update this as things happen and hopefully get better pics in the future.

thank you all to everyone on here, your all a great help

first of all sorry to hear about your accident, glad you made it out ok and congrats on your little boy.
I was thinking changing from MP to red would be bold but that has turned out really really well. love the touches with the red on the mirrors and wheels, looks the business. Keep up the good work fella, top marks.

the accident was 3 years ago now, but it was not a good time in my life. My little boy is the love of my life over my car now, but i'll never stop playing with the gtr, i dreamt of owning!

i will miss the midnight purple, its a awesome colour, i just knew i wouldnt be happy going to the effort of a bare shell respray and not making a big change.

cheers

Wow; that van must've smacked you good and proper; it even changed the colour of the car

Nice work on the replacement btw, although I'd paint the boot and splitter if it was mine.

Sorry to hear about your crash, I'm pleased to see that it didn't dent your enthusiasm for Skylines. Congratulations on your little boy.

I'm a big fan of MP, but I must say I love that colour.

No way not after all that polishing. You'd probably paint them red
