Skylab Torque Split Controller

A new product entry has been added:

Skylab Torque Split Controller

Quote:
This is a simple but very effective device that works with the skylines 4WD system. In standard trim, the 4WD system [ATTESA] actually reduces the amount of torque transmitted to the front wheels when the car is accelerating around corners. The harder you accelerate when cornering, the less torque is transmitted to the front.
This gives the car the feel of power oversteer. Whilst this is sometimes fun, it's not ideal. It's more of a problem in the rain.

Does this affect the 4wd in a staight line? , or does it only fool the ATTESA into thinking your ALWAYS going straight?
OR, does it fool the ATTESA into thinking your ALWAYS loosing traction on the rear thus sending up to 50% to the front permanantly?
Jim

This unit has no effect in a straight line, or when cornering at a constant speed. It's only function is to apply more torque when accelerating out of a bend. In this situation, more torque is applied to the front wheels, reducing or eliminating over-steer. It is variable, so can be adjusted acording to driving style and road conditions.

I already have one of these and its great, would there ever be any way you could have a version that would mount behind a panel? Maybe with a clear sticker for the amplification volume indicator?
Im thinking say in an R32 GTR custom centre carbon cosol or behind your dash, so that you literally only see the dial and maybe an LED instead of the whole unit?
Im sure others would be interested and this would make the positioning much more customisable.
cheers

These are a great piece of kit and represent fantastic value for money. Whilst a more concealable unit could blend in better it the development nay bump the price up a bit. I put mine in the centre console box - well out of the way.

great

Andy fitted one of the original units for me over 5 years back and it has been great in the rain and especially winter conditions. During the mad snow period I went back to driving the R32 full time as the M5 was just impossible in those conditions. Despite having the "wrong" type of tyre (Goodyear F1) on the GT-R it made it past roads other normal FWD cars couldn't pass - not bad for a 17 year old machine on summer tyres .

You would easily mod the standard unit to suit your exact requirements.

You can replace the pot with this
http://docs-europe.electrocomponents...6b80dbb89b.pdf

Then you can mount it anwhere. Run a few wires for the LED too and job done.
