Aussie 8sec/1000+HP R32 GTR Genuine N1 Build Up

Hi all

I'm Benny from Queensland, Australia. And this is our family built project car.

The story: Car was imported from Japan through Dominic at Autostyle in 2007. It is a genuine R32 N1 GTR 1993 Model not V-spec, ZN Model N1. The car was pretty clean and tidy and was basically stock just the basic bolt-ons. When imported it was taken to Jim at CRD and made a easy 280kw @ 1.2bar i think. It only done approx 3000km after purchase when we accidentally bumped the boost solenoid hoses off, (cause someone put shitty fittings on it) which caused it to overboost and crack No.6 Piston Ring Land.

After that disappointment my dad, brother and I disscussed what to do with the car, couple of ideas we through around:
-Restore to original
-Send to nismo japan to get overhauled
-Build a response monster and get the full Mines treatment
-Or build a full bullshit street/drag weapon capable of doin 8's on street tires.

After long consideration about 6 months and lots of phone calls we choose to make a 8sec car. Because this car is so unique/rare we are gonna try stick with the JDM theme as much as possible and only use the best parts money can buy.

So far we were hoping to build it for approx $120k but have since doubled that and its not finished yet.

Heres what it looked like when we first got it:

The progress at the moment is quite good, its probably a good 4-5months off completion. All the work has been done in a backyard shed and all of the build so far has been done by us (except the engine and gearbox) but other wise all us.

Looks very nice indeed, should be a bit of a weapon.

Is that the power steering pump you have mounted below the altinator?

Looks great, very cool. How much would it cost me to get a carbon dash like that one? Do you guys have the moulds?

Yeah we made up some custom alloy mounts for the power steering which is off a V35 Skyline, very similar to a R33/R34 GTR pump and mounted it under the alternator to free up some room for the dry sump pump. As for the dash we just peeled all the vinyl crap off the standard dash and bogged and smoothed it out and put a layer of Carbon over it, looks awesome and still can retain all the factory gauges and mounts, still very light as well.

P.S Also if anyone was wondering what that thing is beside the Dry Sump Oil tank, its a prelube pump as well as a backup oil pump in case we throw a belt off during a run.
