Nice to see you here Richard. I used to race a BDG engined Elan Special GT, then a Skoda Special Saloon with a 2.4 Nelson Cossie engine, then went on to Monoposto and then National F3. Getting long in the tooth now, but treated myself to an F3000 Lola last year for a bit of last minute geriatric therapy ![]()

My first piece of pre preg carbon which is a switch box for Rons race car.
It is 3 layers thick and 4 times lighter than the same made from fibreglass, it weighs 250g and has had a quick rub down with some 240 paper then wipped over with some thinners as it's fresh out the mold. As this part is going to stay looking like carbon i'll give it a couple of coats of laqure to give it the glossy finnish. Now all i need to do is order as shed load of pre preg to get the rest of the car done. ![]() ![]() ![]()

How much lighter would you say this is over a quality wet lay up? And how's Ron's car progressing, i havn't seen an update for ages now?

Daytona cheers mate! I couldn't say for sure how much lighter but it would be lighter as when you wet lay up you use more resin wetting the material out than is on the prepreg carbon.

Are all the panels on the car prepreg carbon... just using fibreglass as a mould from the original panel?

Bigmikespec, I have made molds in fibreglass of the Bumper front and rear, bonnet, boot lid, intercooler / oil cooler duct work, splitter / undertray, cannards, switch box, rear rad convertion duct work and doors, but i still need to make the rear diffuser.
I have already made everything in fibre glass which Mark from mgt is having on his race car. Ron will be having everything above except the doors unless he changes his mind lol will be made in prepreg carbon.
