Anyone care for a cruise to Tsukuba Mountain on the 20th?
Myself and a fellow GT-R owner who works for Nissan are planning a cruise up to Tsukuba Mountain on the 20th and would like to get some others to join us.
We'll be leaving early morning on that Monday and cruising up there to check out the roads and mountain. It's an area I have been trying to get to since I got the R, and just haven't been able to get it arranged. But, now I do. If you'd like to come, please, let me know. Would be fun to get out and drive with you guys.

Neal - you're talking the 20th of September, which is a Monday, but also a holiday, right?
Apparently from what I heard though, the roads up there are NOT as conducive to driving as say in Hakone. The roads undulate on curves, thereby making anything over 40kph hazardous.

Yes, the 20th of September is a holiday. I can't say that I know anything about the roads up there, but my neighbor says the roads are pretty good. I have been to Hakone and Izu and have been wanting to get up to Tsukuba as it's a bit closer to me than the others. I am trying to organize some other friends of mine in going as well, but I think it would be a fun time. Not looking to go up there and push the R to its limits, but to go up and see another part of Japan I haven't seen yet and to have a nice time with some friends. If you up to going, I'd enjoy the company of another R33...lol. Jocelyn, If/when you decide to go, lemme know as soon as possible. I'll be getting the route planned out in the next few weeks.

The drifting up there is pretty good. very different to what you see in the industrial areas etc. The stuff on the mountains is much ballsier, much faster and much more dangerous! Anyway I imagine it's a pretty good drive in daylight too. ![]()

Yup...sure is.
The plan is to meet at Moriya Parking Area on the Joban highway around 6am. Got myself, an R32, GT-R guy, and a nicely tuned WRX. Possibly an older Aristo, a Forrester, an FD, an S14 and a Fit. Could be a nice turn out and could be a good time, provided the weather stays nice.
