project dutch

hey guys and girls, thought it was about time i show my skyline. its a 1991 r32gtr and is my first skyline. had it a year now and its been pretty good to me. only things going wrong were the afms, cas sensor and a shock absorber spring collapsing.

when i first got it, it had zeal coilovers, stainless exhaust, cusco strutbrace, personal wheel, 17inch super advans and a blaze gearknob.

the spec of it now is standard gtr shocks with lowered springs, stainless exhaust, cusco strutbrace repainted, engine covers and turbo pipe painted,
personal wheel, 17 inch super advans painted grey, 214 and 265 falken 452s, blaze gearknob, vibe subwoofer, sony amp, infinity door speakers, alpine headunit, clifford alarm, ebc disks and yellowstuff pads, nismo front tie rods, full respray.

will get pics up soon.

ok so il try an get the main things down from when i bought it. here he is when i got him

for some reason it had a gtst bootlid and spoiler fitted.

ewww look at the dirty enging and hideous strutbrace!

1st step was to piant the engine covers, the turbo pipe and the strutbrace.
i wanted to do the plenum as well but it looks like a nightmare to get off so i thought id do it when i need it off for some other job i do on it.
covers were painted nismo gold and the rest were painted an odd silver i had lying about.

after that i undersealed it in work

had a bit of disaster then. had a bit of aquaplaning session right outside the gates of work and pranged the wing and bumper. the bumper turned out to be a fibreglass replica.

ah well, live and learn. knocked the wing out as best i could and ziptied the bumper because it was off for a local meet at big pit the welsh mining museum.

so after that i gave it a service and got myself a magnetic sump plug.

then a bit of a deal cam my way on some body panels. got a replacement wing, genuine front bumper, gtr bootlid and spoiler for peanuts.

after thay were painted i got them fitted to the car but the colour wasnt quite spot on because its had some paintwork done over its life.

so i bit the bullet and decided to give it a quick respray so it was all matching. it did have some rust on the rear archs, and being as i was going to do a better respray this winter i thought it was pointless going as far as to weld them up now so i just patched them up with fibreglass.

demasked

flat and polished

with the bodywork all nice, the wheels were letting it down so i refurbed them and got some red lightweight wheelnuts.

and refurbed the badges to my own design

then it was off to silverstone for the skyline parade! had to say what an awesome event that was and glad to be a part of it.

so then i had another bit of disaster, one of the collars on the rear zeal units sheared off leaving me with a lowrider gtr

so to cheer myself up after buying some 2nd hand standard shocks with lowered springs i also treated him to some new tyres. it had 225s all round so i went for 245s on the front and 265s on the back. i also upgrade the front speakers.

then another bit of disaster lol. im not having much luck am i. i took it to a garage to have my tyres fitted and they snapped 3 of my ultralite wheel nuts on the studs. so they then had to be drilled off resulting in 2 knackered rims and 3 wheel studs. wasnt impressed.

so after painting the wheels again i treated myself again lol. some new ebc front disks with yellowstuff pads and hel braided hoses. i also overhauled the calipers and gave them a lick of paint matching the body.

while i was at it i discovered some nismo tie rods

recently we were off to japfest 2 in rockingham. and i have to say what an awesome venue for a show that was. much better than japfest at castle coombe. we ended up driving up on the saturday staying in a holiday inn, getting totally bladdered all night and then went to the show in the morning.
some choice pics lol

when i came back i had a list of things to do including binning all the hicas system and fitting my driftworks kit.
first was to get rid of the carbon canister.

pipes blocked off.

then removing the hicas system.

and the new kit installed with new pipe looped in the engine bay.

last job was to remove the rear wiper for a cleaner look. it was also letting in water anyway.

and that is where i am currently at.
thanks for looking.

The best way not to wreck the attessa system is to run the exact same tire on each corner

the rolling radius has to be the same on each wheel or the attessa will think the fronts will be traveling at diffrent speeds!! and will ajust it self!

diffrent width tyres have diffrent rolling radius!
ie a 245/40/17 will be diffrent to a 265/45/17!
hence diffrent rolling radius!!
great thread by the way!!

ive seen loads of people with 245 or 255 on the front and 265 or 275 on the rear on gtrs. whats wrong with that? that isnt the radius of the tyre. mine are 40/17s all round

lol no thats his name 'dutch'. take a look at my avatar and you should realize why
