The recent incident shows how people can easily get around the rules. Responding to a for sale add by PM or replying to a wanted add by PM. In either case the post count doesn't make any difference. There is only one simple answer.....
A large text announcement at the beginning of the for sale section something like "Buyer Beware. if in doubt check out the person first. If you don't you might get shafted! Then what are you going to do about it?"

Voted, Although I do agree with the above posters idea of selling and buying being different. Yeah a seller can easily scam, but if your trying to buy then i'm not seeing how to really scam on that one. I think its probably normal that the seller wouldnt ship till my funds are confirmed anyways.

as someone with very few posts (but long time lurker here) i think the 50 post count really does work. makes the community smaller and tighter knit.
btw, i think this is my 50th post. :-)

Back to the how to prevent scamming, one thing we do on another automotive forum to combat all the scamming was requiring a picture of the item and a piece of paper that had the forum member name and the date. At least it proves the person has the part and is not just selling some random part he found a picture of on the internet.
Thoughts?
