People spamming for 50 - GT-R Register - Official Nissan Skyline and GTR Owners Club forum

What should us mods do?

We now have an automated 50 post rule, but a few people have simply posted crap to achieve this 50 post mark

So, what action do YOU think the admin team should take?

Let em spam. Any body that buys or sells to anyone on a forum with out checking their post history and gets bit. More fool them.

You can only do so much mook.

Threaten to ban them at 10 spam posts. Agree with SIN though, any seller ought to be thoroughly checked before you part with cash.

Maybe increase time registered to 6 months from 3 and it will show a bit more dedication. It's tricky but I think you're doing as much as you can.

How about a system where everyone trading has to leave a £10k deposit with Blow Dog that gets returned when they've finished trading.

They only use this place for their sales, they offer nothing and it wastes moderators time keep deleting posts/monitoring them.

They offer nothing unless... they've got something worth selling or pounds notes to buy. New posters aren't all con men.

I'm playing devils advocate here btw, not a big seller nor a big buyer of things online, but mods can only do so much.

Check:
a: How long have they been a member?
b: Posts - are they spam.

Its not rocket science.

How about a more strict registration system?
Where the mods / owners get info about the person, or confirmation on ID?

this is a very tricky one to combat really.

not all new posters are con-men, and 2 years until trading ability just seems so harsh.

with regards to safe sales i completely agree that its up to the individuals to do their own research. there is only so much that the mods can and should do!

with regards to spamming decent threads, they should be warned and threatened with banishment, and the offending posts deleted, however this would take up a lot of moderators time.

sometime people forget there user name and pass word.. i did was out the gtr seen for about 2 years.. back for now. if you know them. then you should cut them some slack,,

, but newbes mmmmm tell them, and then see what happens.

Ah ha, now i see your point in other thread.lol No im just a legit cool guy in the states who happens to goto japan often enough and is heavily into big $$ motorsports in the US and Japan. I own 3 Skylines and am just a fellow lover of the amazing jobNissan did in creating some of the most sought after cars in the world. I am as real as it get's

I think the rules should be completely different for buying and selling. - The scam is so much easier with the latter.
For example post a pair of 2860-5s up for £500 you will likely get interest. And any one can post a pic of a pair of turbos on their bench.
And because normal protocol is that you send the money before the goods its a much easier scam.
So I agree with the 50 post rule for selling and If people do post crap to reach 50 its only a problem if they then post items for sale. some people only post crap - it doesnt mean there parts are dodgy.
Maybe there should be a rule that proof of address is provided before advertising parts for sale is allowed - i know thats not fullproof but it would stop some.

Its far more difficult to scam with a wanted ad .

So I personally dont see the problem in posting a wanted ad.
After all any body thats sends something off before the funds are 100% cleared only has themselves to blame.
