Almost ready for our new season

The FED is all back together, just need to do some wiring and a few new sponser stickers then we will be ready to try and get the world record for quickest ever RB off HKS Japan which have it at 7.19 I believe.

I'm happy with the car now, I think it looks much better than last year, we have wider rear wheels and tyres, new front and rear wings and top fuel style side deflectors, hopefully this will all help with traction and stability so we can push it much harder than we previously could.

By running a rail & with enough runs behind you i am sure you will have no hassles in relation to beating the HKS times Rob

Be interesting to see if anyone can be bothered with the hassle, time & expense to ever get there with a door car as then more a truer like for like - just goes to show how crazy those times were all those years ago !!

True, only thing alot of people don't realise is the FED is very heavy (955kg) and it's best 60ft is 1.10.

I'd put money on the fact that the HKS 180sx would have been lighter than 955kg and I'd also be pretty sure it would have 60ft'd in at least 1.10 so although the cars look totally different its actually not too bad of a comparison.

I'd have liked to have seen the Wiggs R34 stay with a RB and be seriously developed, that thing was just over 800kg and pretty sure it 60ft'd in 1.1s with not alot of power.

Suitably sorted it would be a real nice like for like match up for Project GTS-t.

Robbie.

Get it on a proper track. The rail cars, the 2JZ powered ones I ever saw in the US, could never hook up right. They always did some odd stuff on the track. I never saw one make a clean pass.

I talked with Kawasaki -sun about the HKS 180, and on that quick pass, they did it here in the US in NJ, he said it hooked like it never hooked in Japan. 7.18 - 7.19 - 7.25. Nitto Extreme Performance Sport Compact Nationals- Turbo & HIgh Tech Performance Magazine The mph was actually pretty low for that ET. 190 - 193 mph.

Anyway, enough history lessons. Good luck with it this year. When is the first event?

Yeah, the tracks here in NZ really are bad and the times are always well off whats possible in Aussie on a good track but I just have to do the best with the tracks I can afford to race at.

Our best mph of just 181 on a 7.26 shows just how bad the track/traction has been.

Our first tests are in November and with any luck we can find some grip/stability and push for that 6.

After that we may have to look at heading to Aussie sometime to make the most of the car and engine.

Rob
