Middlehurst 12 month service - how much?

Hi Guys

Been a few weeks since I have posted - took some time out in portugal to recharge batteries etc.

My car (with 3k mileage after a year!!) is at Middlehurst as we speak - can I have a heads up as to how much people have paid for this service - I have already agreed that the pollen filter will not be changed.

Thanks

David

well Litchfield charge around £300 all in incl also the pollen filter to keep your full manufacturer service schedule intact (its only £45 odd quid from Litchfields in any case) - so normally you would double the cost approximately at a HPC although I know some are doing "what they can" to lower prices so my guess would be in the £400-500 region.......

Just pulled the invoice on mine, done back in July with 4464miles at Middlehurst and it was £444.84 including the VAT. It also includes £15 for the insurance on the loan car for the day. Mine didn't have the pollen filter either.

Hope that helps.

Cheers guys

I wonder if I can negotiate some reduction on the labour time as they aren't replacing the pollen filter!

It would help compensate for the fact that I forgot to put my oil bought at Costco in the car, so will pay over twice as much for that!

I find it mind-boggling that a main dealer (or any dealer in fact) will stamp your service book when the car has *not* been serviced according to the manufacturer's schedule. Surely that is fraud?

(Yes, I am aware that not changing a pollen filter is not important to the car's mechanical wellbeing - but purely from a legal perspective.)

This is of course only theory, but if a dealer is willing to stamp a book confirming manufacturer's schedule has been adhered to and it hasn't it would have serious legal implications. Are you seriously asking if I am serious? In this context it doesnt matter what the details of the work that wasn't done is....i.e. whether they didn't change pollen filter or the oil has the same implication.

Service history would be worth nothing if it wasn't adhered to. A pollen filter is meaningless but what stops them stamping the book despite other ommissions? Wouldn't you be pissed off if you bought a car with all stamps present but found out that part of the services weren't done?

£195 from Nobles (i provided the oil which included £15 for spring clips) at 6k

No pollen filter (although accidentally done but was charged at £50 which was refunded) or brake stripping but they visually checked was told it wasn't necessary. I'm not sure what the need for stripping brakes is to be honest!

I'm loving all the you must get it serviced at Litchfields posts.

Question - if something goes wrong with your car, would not rather have a good relationship with your HPC who will be representing you? Maybe just me

As i posted in the other thread. It was agreed with Nissan, and it clearly states on the servicing schedule what was in then service.

(In fact i don't think i even have my book stamped at all) I go by the service sheets always when i buy a car.

I think you need to stop claiming it's 'fraud'. If you are that bothered. Call up Nissan and ask them and then let us know.

Hi misters

Rather than call Nisssan, I will just have my car serviced fully according to the manufacturer's schedule. Voicing concerns about dealers stamping service books when the schedule was not followed to the letter is hopefully thought and debate-provoking, as you say they may mark your service book clearly when something is *not* done to make it easier for the next owner to see where maintenance was skimped. I understand that changing a pollen filter every year is not necessary, but it *is* in the service schedule.....and when comparing costs of services which started as the main point I thought it important to point out so that apples can be compared to at least the same type of fruit

one more time

Nissan have approved this. So it is according to their servicing schedule.

I know the name of the guy at Nissan who was asked. I have the email.

So claiming fraud is well out of order. As we know Nissan have changed their stance on several service issues eg oil temps since 2009.

As an aside. I don't bother getting my service book stamped. In this day and age I'd always call up and ask the manufacturer for a printout of what was done and compare with the receipts. stamped service book is antiquated to say the least.

if you want to discuss the topic. start a new thread.

is this that important?

On previous cars I've had a Nissan dealer told me he would stamp the book that a non franchised dealer did, why you may ask?

If you want to get stamps you need to go back to the franchised dealer once you are out of this they have lost you.... its all about money. Oil is oil, pollen filters generally don't kill people

on litchfield's and HPC's I have visited a few. litchfields is good. HPC's sometimes good...

Filling up the washer fluid is also in the service schedule BUT it needs doing much more often than every 6 months . How far do you want to take a mute point.

meanwhile - Back on topic
