In my experience all XP pads squeal to some degree or another. They do not like the slow stop start driving. Once at a suitable temp and given some stick they quieten down but the squeal will return if commuter driving is then undertaken.

XP8`s working temp is much less than say an XP12. All have the same initial cold working performance but as the temperatures increase the XP10`s and then the 12`s get into their stride.
Perfectly put by Chris...sums up carbotech pads exactly.

anyone doing a deal on the Carbonetic R spec pads....??? i fancy them next.

XP12`s are great. but i cant live with the noise. i use the car almost daily and i dont always get the chance to fly off a motorway slip road and anchor on at the last sec to get them quiet for the next three miles.....

its either that or buy a set of 8`s or yellow stuff for the daily commute and keep the 12`s purely for the track and ring....

The XP8`s will squeal the same judging by how you describe your driving. Its the price you pay for a more performance related pad at such a great price.
