VMAX – Bruntingthorpe 14th May 2011 in Eddie’s SVM 750R

Eddie very kindly offered me the passenger seat in his SVM 750R for the VMAX event today at Bruntingthorpe and can’t thank him enough as I had an absolutely fantastic day….

Car porn does not do this event justice….the kit there is something else, although no match for the SVM 750R!! Recorded 203mph!!!! (See pics below)

It’s fair to say that nothing we ran against even came close to Eddie’s car. The Nobile M600, which we were expecting to be stiff competition, got a jump from the line and pulled out about half a car length on the run down the first straight, however by the time Eddie was into 2nd, we were pulling it back in and then passed it. We finally ended up about ¾ of a car ahead of it before getting on the brakes….simply epic performance

The Noble then did the bottom corner a touch quicker and again pulled out a lead only for us to start pulling it back in again down the 1.7 mile straight!! I am sure with a longer bit of runway we would have passed it and pulled a gap on it.

Picture of Eddie’s car at the start of the day:

Getting ready for take off!

Some of the pics up to the 203mph point…(Yeah I know I am no David Bailey – Hard to keep the camera steady at these speeds)

And the big one……

Eddie's car was maxing out the intakes so backed off before the speed trap…it would have kept going easily as it was still increasing in speed up to that point

Huge praise to SVM and Ben @ GTC for building what is one very special car. I am currently trying to establish how much I can get for a kidney as I now ‘need’ (not want) more power and a car that sounds like Eddie’s.

After the 203mph run the car had a ‘small’ problem…not sure of the exact cause but suspect that the pressure on the lower lip became too much and ripped the bolts for the splitter out the bumper ending up with it grinding itself away…just check how much of it is missing ...nothing that some cable ties and some £1 dish cloths could not sort out although not sure if the mod will catch on

Anyway just the excuse that Eddie was looking for to buy some carbon!

Again huge thanks to Eddie for a great day....now where's the number for my bank manager
