Great work buddy

Part 3, you're insane

What else do you want to improve on your car???

Don't say this too loud or your missus will kick your butt

Cheers,

Leo

Did I not tell you Leo? Part 3 is going to be taking the car back to 100% factory spec!!!

There's still plenty to do mate! When it's time to stop working on/modding this car it'll be time to move into my retirement home by the sea!

Haha

Problem is that as far as I know you, I wouldn't actually put this past you

I've a picture in my mind of your retirement home by the sea...

...it's your GTR parked on a cliff facing towards the sunset

Bob surely part 3 is you coming round to mine and applying the same level of OCD to my car. I can pay you in small bottles of French lager and you can live under the stairs. Don;t worry I'll leave the security light on so you can keep working through the night

Add some ripe camembert and a fresh baguette every day and you have a deal Cris!

Been sorting out my ABS less brake lines the last week or so. In the end i decided to ditch all of the OEM hard lines in the bay as I couldn't be arsed to modify them or get new ones made up in copper piping. So I searched out various Goodridge braided brake line solutions.
I started trying to make it all from build-a-line stuff as my local motorcycle shop stocks the whole range. They're a really nice newer design that don't require olives inside the fittings. They come in various pre set lengths and are roughly the same cost for the hoses regardless of length. (about £15 a hose). And the fittings are cheaper as they are just a screw fit, (no olives) so are a simpler design.
I used some small gold alloy 6mm double joiners riv-nutted and then bolted up to the bulkhead where the original plastic fittings go, so i can remove them at any time should i need to for any reason.

I used a double banjo bolt to run both front brake lines to the rear of the brake master cylinder and a single to the front one for the rear line.

This was my original setup. But i found it hard to get the connectors to replace the lines that go through the inner wings to the braided hoses running off the hardline brackets using the build-a-line system.
Luckily my friends at the motorcycle shop let me use them for measurements and then return them undamaged.

This was my dilemma, the female seen here is M10x1

So i needed to come from there and then 90 degrees up to the 3/8 unf female connection on the build-a-line hoses.

There doesn't seem to be such a connection in the range. or even a 3/8 unf to 3/8 unf 90. (im sure this will be interesting to someone out there! gulp)

So in the end i decided to visit Merlin with my lengths and get some Goodridge stuff made up to length with the right stainless (che-ching £££££) connections and olives.

Worked out spot on.
I got blue alloy Goodridge m10x1 to 3/8 unf convertors into a female 3/8 unf 90 built into the end of a 1200mm line with a stainless banjo on the other end, for the passengers side. The result looks like this. I'll get some better pics up of the whole thing now ive test fitted them and they all fit just right.

cheers

bob
