Help with rebuild

hi

I recently brought the german R32 from Andy on here a couple of weeks ago, unfortuanley just 250miles in the bottom end started knocking (bad luck particually after choosing the car to get away from engine rebuilds, after already doing a couple in the lsat 2 years)

Anywho engine is now stripped, the rods are junk and the crank needs a regrind. The tomei pistons are fine, but one has some pitting in the side, I have been advised to change this piston, I was wondering what people would advise?

Do I

a) Replace the piston (can be brought seperatley), all the rings and circlips have them x-rayed, and balanced together

or

b) Buy a set of cosworth pistons and be done with it

only reason these two makes are options as there the only 2 i can find that make pistons in an 87.5mm

also any rods suggestions looking at brian crowner rods at the moment

Thanks for any suggestions

You should be able to tell by looking at them if they are ok, the problem was with the rods?

You can always go 88mm and get HKS Step 2 pistons otherwise i say COSWORTH great pistons never heard anything bad about them!

Rods from famous CARILLO H-Beams will be an awsome choice, Alot of people go with Eagle and those people saying it wont hold 700hp can go **** themselves beacuse Eagle rods are used in 1300hp Supras and they HOLD! Those shops that say it wont hold say that beacuse they want to sell their other more expensive rods

Personally would only go to 87.5mm on an N1 or RRR block, if your on a standard block I wouldn't go more than 87mm.

Thanks for advice, the block is already bored to 87.5, but looks like the affected bore will be fine with a very mild hone, so hopefully staying with the tomei pistons
