Kitcar build.

Umm seeing as this is General Discussion forum and Projects section i guess this fits here.
Just installed the engine today! feels great! Still need to mill down the 26 into a 25 on the pully cover and make a dome for the valve timing thing. Also need to install cross bars below the engine mount but will do that when i next remove the engine. Still need to install a load of extra braces around the place. But wanted to get the engine in and check for clearances. Plenum will be modded to have the throttlebody on the end. Cam covers will have breather pipes out the rear to allow the bonet to fit. Running gear is Cosworth Granada stuff with a 3.64 lsd diff. Also running the RB20DET/RB25DE box seeing as the car is alot lighter than a skyline this should not be a problem.
Monday it will have its wheels! Going to be using 225/40/18's

I'll be following this as I'm considering doing something similarly daft myself. Out of interest, is the chassis your own design, copied or do you have drawings? PM me if you like.

Thanks for the support heh. The chassis is based of the Haynes Roadster book. But has a 135mm stretch in the engine bay to take the RB length. The joy of the haynes book is the fact that it uses sierra/granada running gear. So parts are dead easy to get and vary from the low bhp engine bits like small 240mm discs upto the rwd cosworth sierra/granada stuff.
The stretch has been done from just after the gear stick forward. Keeping the standard front suspension setup. Had to do alot of trig to work it all out this was before i ivested some time into autocad tutorials. I will find my plans at some point and update them and will make an autocad file for anyone who wants it. The wheelbase is extended from the standard Roadster length 2388mm upto 2523mm (allmost the same as the Audi Quattro). Have allready got 273mm vented rear granada cosworth rear discs/calipers on the front i will be using 330mm Focus RS discs and Brembo focus RS calipers.

If any of you guys happen to have a spare Rb25DE/RB20DET/SR20DET prop shaft slip yoke around give me a shout. I need one so the prop shaft guy can find the right one.

So it shouldnt suffer from heavy gtr syndrome then ....
A 500 hp RB26 should do it !!
650kgs ? 500 hp ... sounds about right ...
RB's are heavy and so are the gearboxes.
(Compared to smaller lighter engines I mean, 550 kg is realistic with a 2litre 4)

Madness! That is going to be scary!!

I would think 225 rear tires might be a tad small for the power to weight of this beastie?!?

Update:
Added more engine bay support. The standard design for the small ford engines is just not strong enough for what i need.
Bushes for wishbones and mock shocks arive tomorrow. So will have pics of it with the wheels on tomorrow with any luck.
Think im going to rework the wheels my original plan involved running 18" BK299 7.5J et+35 with 20mm spacers.
New idea is to run 18" Lenso RS5 8J with ET+15 and no spacers on the rear and then run +35's on the front. Need to do some more work and figure out the best option. Problem is wheel options for the ford 4 stud rules out nice jap type rims.

Plan:

So far

Rolling at last! Cant tell you all how happy i am. Only problem i have seen is the rear drivers side wheel is slightly toe in.... will have to investigate a bit more. Also note the front discs will be swapped for 330mm discs with brembo's
Also polo pic is to show the 13's compared to the 18's heh
