Problem solved!!
The switched on lads at Link and NZEFI here in NZ have a circuit that the Link G4 can control that makes the pumps variable (with pulse modulation) from 60% to 100% speed.

That should quieten them down, and avoid heating the fuel too much at cruise/idle
