Is it possible.....

Now I know with enough money that most things are possible, but is it possible to have my trust T78-33d made into a roller bearing turbo without spending tge equivalent of portugals debt balance?

It should be... Might be worth phoning/emailing a few of those turbo reconditioning companies, they can usually give you a quote.

No matter what I would expect it to be really expensive, they are MHI based turbos and I am unaware of any MHI ball bearing cores so I'd have thought it'd basically be a full custom job. Why do you specifically want a BB T78-33D? It'd be pretty much the same as having a twin scroll ball bearing Garrett T67 - why not just get one of those?

Cos I've already got the t78, engine isn't even in the car yet but just a tad worried about lag (a given with a t78 I know)

I am really quite confident it will be easier to sell it and buy and new turbo than convert it to ball bearing core - ball bearings also make a bigger difference to transient response than outright spool, a turbo that big is always going to take some time to come on full boost on a smaller motor. A ball bearing one just may drop off less in gear changes etc.

I'd stick with plain bearings, you'll have a higher shaft speed and a more durable bearing system.
