The paint and lacquer manufacturers have to use these days due to environmental restrictions make this shit happen literally.

Kuro black, two bird turds for just over a week. No damage. Just don't look at it sideways though. Go figure.

You can add me to the list aswell now.Only had my gunmetal GTR 3 weeks now and apart from a handfull of stonechips the bodywork was mint.Got home from work today to find two sizeable splats of bird shit on the N/S rear quarter.
Having read this thread the other day I started panicing and got out the quick detailer to get the stuff off.It had baked on pretty hard so i put a couple of wet paper towels on for a minute to soften it up then wiped it off.

Same result! The laquer has gone dull and rough and despite a bit of polishing which has improved it slightly it looks like the damage is done.

I can see this is going to be a real problem and if this is what is going to happen every time a bird shits on it,the paintwork is going to be ruined in no time.

I dont have a garage so im seriously thinking of getting a carport/canopy fitted to the side of the house to protect the car when i am not around to be on bird shit patrol!!

Not good.

This is exactly the reason that I told myself I'd not have another GT-R unless it was wrapped.
The last one made me nuts worrying about the paint.

Worth the cost of a wrap for my sanity.

There are protection products that will slow down the effect untill you can remove it once you see it.

The products that we use really help protect against bird etching but depending on what Mr bird has eaten even the best products may not help

Surely these paint issues mean the cars are not "Fit for Purpose" I'd speak to an expert. How can you be having issues like this? It can't just be because of water based paints these days, we would all be having the same problems. Nissan need to respond this many issues with their paint system.

I think it's more like self healing paint.

I took my car to Nissan today to be looked at and they applied some form of cleaner / solution to my car over some patches of markings...

My paint now looks shocking, it's literally started to rise. It's like orange peel but 500 times worse. My block paving driveway feels less lumpy between the bricks I have lines going down the whole side of my car now shocking...

Needless to say thank f**k this happened at a Nissan dealership by there own people using there own products!

The product they used was supposed to be a chemical they have for removing glue and tar. Might as well add 'GT-R paint' to that solution name. Took it to a friend who does detailing and before I could mention anything his words were along the lines as 'What the f**k has happened to your car?'.

Wish I'd never taken it to the dealer now but on another note really pleased I have because what can they do to back out of this? I've already had a few calls bouncing back and forth although for some random reason it's got to go back to be assessed? not sure why it's pretty obvious the paint is ruined.

If I end up having a respray then I'll be seeking compensation and demanding I take it to a garage of my choice not show how it'll all pan out. Can't see how this can be rectified though at present without major overhaul of the paint.

Crikey, that sounds like a complete nightmare. I can understand your fury. Too late in your case, but for future reference, Autoglym do boxes of bird splat sachets - like glorified wetwipes. I keep these in my glovebox and wipe as soon as I notice any splats. So far so good.

Hope you get it sorted - difficult to see how they can argue but it will no doubt be complete PITA sorting it all out.

Will take a photo later undo a lamp. If you stand roughly 10 metres away close your eyes and turn around it doesn't look to bad.

But if I'm away for a week working unless I cover or garage my car which isn't always possible I'll never be able to wipe off muck straight away unfortunately.

I can't understand the issue all the other cars on the drive are much older, even my 1993 Supra had spotless paint. If it's to do with new paints etc what year did this come into play as my 2007 RS4 has no issues.
