TweenieRob Custom RB28
Dedicated to the memory of my dad and Tweenie Rob, may you both rest in peace..
Some of you will know the history of my car and some of you won't but hopefully this thread will give everyone an idea as to what both TR-Racing and I have been up to in the past couple of years, working towards my goals. When I first took my car to TR-Racing, I sat down with Rob and Justin and started to pencil a plan for my car to end up with the spec I wanted to achieve a couple of personal goals, top speed and quarter but still remain a street car, I'll get on to that later. First off was to address the strut tops, as with all R33's the standard struts are twin skinned which allows moisture to be trapped and rust forms from the inside out. I also wanted this area strengthened to allow the car to better handle the power the new set-up would be putting out so I've had strengthened sections welded in. I'm changing the colour of the engine bay too as the pictures will show. Car in the body shop being prepped - As always, Rob making sure he was 100% happy; ![]() New sections welded in and additional bracing on the underside; ![]() ![]() You can see how being stood and not touched for nearly 2 years takes its toll by the surface rust; ![]() Struts being prepped for paint; ![]() Sealer being applied; ![]() ![]() ![]() Prepped and ready for paint; ![]() Thankfully, having the underside fully treated has meant it's still very clean; ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Well, the first and second coats of paint went on, just needs flattening and then lacquering. First coat; ![]() ![]() ![]() Second coat on ready for rubbing down; ![]() ![]() I'm pleased with the result, should make a feature of the engine. ![]() ![]() Keeping Gaijin Company; ![]() Part of the conversation with Rob covered Turbo choice - He wanted the car and engine to be a showcase for some of the work TR-Racing are very capable of doing so he had a hand in this choice... (If truth be told, he was more excited about this choice than I was but I knew he would 'do the business') ![]() ![]() Rob made a photo diary of the build but sadly all the photos were hosted on his site and he was in the process of emailing me the password but unfortunately it never came. These are the only photos I have of the engine during the build... (The colour is Kawasaki Racing Lime Green) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Engine (basic) Specification; The engine has had the FULL TR-Racing attention with many parts being custom specified by Rob and Justin - again, I don't have the full spec but below is a small indication of the attention to detail... Nismo U24 N1 Block - cylinder walls bored and honed to each piston Full HKS Step 3 internals - pistons/rods/pins/crank etc Custom dry sump set up Nissan head - ported and polished + combustion chamber mods/squish etc Full HKS manifold and piping kit which has been ceramic coated HKS T62R turbo - External waste gate and screamer Dual fuel rails with 12x700cc injectors Nitrous installation CAS removal and Crank angle (missing tooth) installation Custom fuel system Basically a lot of one-off parts have gone into this build. By now everyone knows the kind of work TR-Racing are capable of and hopefully now you'll see the attention to detail and lengths these guys go to in ensuring that every customer is hopefully a happy customer. In June 2009 my dad passed away and I discussed certain things with Rob and the build whilst being a showcase for TR-Racing was also to be dedicated to the memory of my dad who had been supportive all the way through my Skyline ownership - not many people can say after 12 years that they are the 1st and only owner of their car and have done everything to their car from day 1. I’ll just list a few pics now and let them do the talking… ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Seemed strange to be featured even when in that state!!! Keeping up the carbon fetish… ![]() ![]() ![]() Back to the build… ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A keen eye might see the fuse box relocation going on ![]() ![]() ![]()

Getting the car ready for TOTB last year;
![]() ![]() ![]() A few changes made well into the wee small hours of the morning prior to driving to York. ![]() ![]() ![]() Keeping the carbon fetish going, installed the interior panel; ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() There's plenty of other work ongoing, the ECU and dash are being changed to MoTeC and the finishing touches have started. I'll finish by saying a huge thanks to all at TR-Racing, to Danny at VicSell and Newera who supplied one or 2 parts. Personal thanks to Justin and Rich, you guys are stars ![]()

Matt
first things first......welcome back dude, its been a while. the car is looking very sweet and love that carbon rear seat cover. Justin has done a 1st class job as always, i remember when my car came back from Danny's the engine bay looked that clean, you've inspired me to get out there and give it a good polish. hopefully see you at TOTB this year. Alkesh

Welcome back matt, I'm glad mook lifted your ban mate.
It's about time it was lifted. I have always loved your unique car, I remember when it had just the 400r kit and watching it take shape over the years. Keep up the good work mate.....

You have been gone a while..
First and foremost, I am sorry to hear of your Father's passing. May he rest in peace. I remember seeing this when I first had my GTR serviced. Pretty sure the CE28s were silver then. This has always had a big spec list.

Unique is definitely a way of describing the old girl, propper marmite ![]() One day I'll write down the spec list but it's getting far easier these days to just list what's standard...
