Thanks for your input Gary. I am booked in for a chat with Iain at the Litchfield emporium next week for much kicking of tyres and supping of tea, and trying not to empty my piggy bank to badly.

Welcome to the Dark Side, Dougie!
You took your sweet time. First drive of a remapped GT-R and you'll kick yourself for having waited so long...

To be honest David, I'm still not sure whether I am going to do it or not, after all the car needs more power like I need another hole in the head !! The only reason I've waited so long is the car's warranty, and I wanted to see what the effect of tuning would have on reliability etc, given that I'm not so flushed with cash that I can afford to replace gearboxes out of my own pocket!
That said, i'm now looking at making it sound a bit better, and whilst i'm doing that I might as well get a remap to make the most of it. I doubt that I will go much further than that. Should still net me another 80-100 bhp though from what I've read.

Probably re-map and Miltek. Looking for more power, with a bit more growl, but not a lot of drone. ![]() With regards to the wet, is it just a case of getting used to the increased power or do you need to switch to snow mode when the rain come down! ![]()

I drive my 600 bhp in R mode at all times - just use a little bit of common sense when there's standing water as a bootful of power can upset the backend even with VDC partially active. Now get down to Litchfield and get the car mapped and exhaust sorted - far less drone on a full system than just Y pipe and extra ponies as a result! D

@Paul
Basically I had a stage 2 which included Milltech Y-Pipe (I had the louder non-resonated version) and the race cat back Milltech system. K&N air filters and stage 2 switchable race/economy map with variable boost control. Iain didn't have the quieter resonated y-pipe available, but to be honest I don't think that you need it. There is a little boom/bass at around 50-60 in 6th on the motorway, but nothing desperate and it goes away as you speed up. As for power ... well i would liken it to driving in a gear lower than you are used to, i.e. it pulls in fourth like the standard car does in 3rd etc. @Sumo I know what you are saying regarding just being sensible in the wet, that was what I was getting at, but might have come across that I was being a tool! I am also starting to drive the car with VDC in R, more to quell the traction control cutting in when you hit a bump in the road which backs thing off and drops the boost. Sadly I won't be able to play with it for another 6 weeks as I was on a plane the morning after I had it done :-( so no time to do an acceleration test with Dynolicious on my iphone.

I still struggle to see how the Miltek full system is quieter than the factory system even though I know it is.

Robbie, only the rear silencer is quieter, like for like, if you have a y-pipe and the rear milltek it will be loader than a fully standard car but still capable of pass all current track day and road side noise tests. If you want something a bit loader we have the Race system which is the same price but with less sound proofing. This is what I run on my car and I think it should great
![]() We have our first production 90mm system going on next week as well ![]() Regards Iain

I know I've just put a Milltek system on Iain, but what's the advantage of the 90mm system? I'm assuming that since I'm pretty much at the limit of gas flow at the induction end it's only going to benefit tuning stages further up the food chain.

@ Litchfield's
Hi, When you say "louder" when the y pipe and back is changed. Does it cause any drone in the car ? Because I changed the exhaust on my previous car (A5) and even though it was a high quality system and the sound was great from outside, the extra drone inside drove me nuts. I ended up hating the exhaust.

I have had Iain (Mr Litchfield) do my Miltek Catt back and stage to re-map.
This was done for me a little while ago now and I think I have covered 4k miles with it a loved every moment. Replacing the system with a non resant Miltek is the key - i did not want drone either...! ![]() I am waiting for Iain to confirm when I can get my GTR back in as I am wanting the new updated re-map he offers with the switchable modes etc as this was not available when I had mine updated. I also wanting to get the overboost option and any software updates for the gearbox... I have started rubbing my little piggy bank in the hope that I have enough pennies to go from stage 2 to 4 whilst its in. Miltek - I will either look to have Iain send my rear boxes back to Miltek for unpackaging or I will put on the race system. I have found the Miltek system to be quieter than I was expecting and I was wanting a little more sound and growl!! I am waiting on Iain to confirm when I can drop it off and I hope to get a couple of weeks of driving in before it goes under the covers for the winter. I will let you what the difference is like when I have had the Miltek changes done.
