What's the other side of that stud wall on the right? The trimmers will have to take the weight of that studded wall. Have those trimmers been put in there just to fill the already trimmed out stair well, as a interim measure until your ready to fit the stairs maybe?

Exactly. It's a timber frame, block skinned and that's the side of the house (external
Wall)

That trimmed section is there for a staircase as you can see the double truss on the left.

You will have to support that stud, do the small joists that are in the joist hangers, go into the blockwork, or are they joist hangered into another trimmer?that double trimmer is probably there to take the weight of the stairs then.

They are in hangers both ends. Removed the nails and they'd lift straight out.

That should be ok then mate, sounds like the stud is supported from two trimmers underneath it. Sounds like it's been trimmed just to close the loft off until you eventually open it up

Are velux worth paying the premium for or are similar makes just as good?

They are much the same, but you can more add ons for velux, blinds, auto rain sensors, but I've had no come backs on the other types

fitted fakro and the velux mook to be honest not much in it both good options. we fit more velux as they are in stock local
