Posting here for a friend of mine who is interested in your R34 but don't know many things about those beasts...

I see you're running a fair amount of bhp and I don't see any major improvement on the oil system. Which oil pump do you have? Have you fitted an oil restrictor? Are the oil return chanels enlarged? Do you have a sump extension or at least, a baffle plate?

Also, do you think it would be possible for you to make a video of the speedo during a 2nd wot pull so that he could be sure the car don't suffer the usual oil surge problem which can be seen on many 500+ RB26s?

(I know the video can be a hassle, but my mate lives in Paris so travelling to Guernsey just to double check such a detail could be some kind of a very expensive check up for him! lol )

Hi Jobi Joba,
I think i know what you mean about the oil system, in the pictures of the engine you will see it has a Grex aftermarket system with larger pipes, it also has a Trust oil cooler.
I can assure you there is no oil surge, it pulls like a train through all the gears.
If there was such an issue, surely Abbey Motorsport would have picked up on this when it was on their Dyno, also would it not have shown up on the Dyno graph.
Hope this helps.
Steve.

Thx for the answer. FYI, oil surge only depends on thrust, so it can't be seen on a dyno where the car is not moving. ;-)
Also, an oil filter relocation kit and an oil cooler are good improvments for the oil system, but don't prevent oil surge neither.
A video of the instrument cluster during a wot pull in 2nd gear would tell everything.

Oh, and oil surge has absolutely no impact on the power delivery of the car. So it can pull like a train and suffer from oil surge. Only reliability can be (greatly) reduced when suffering from oil surge.

For example:
Nicolas Kiesa Nissan Skyline - YouTube
Look at the oil pressure gauge from 1:20 and on. This is oil surge. I bet his engine is now dead...
