Lightbulb Making an Electric Pulley

Sorry dont know where to post this one but here goes.

Is there anyway to make an Electric pulley (on/off Switch) or even better VIA RPM something like the ac compressor pulley but I want to use it for something else.

I have no idea what you're talking about, so you'll have to give some more specific information.

12v or 240v?

Draw us a picture and we might come up with some ridiculous suggestions.

Are you going to make your chairs electrically adjustable?

I smell a supercharger that is linked to an airconditioner pulley that will drop out when the turbos are on boost.

Am I close?

Actualy Hugh Keir is the closest I have a Vortech V1 Supercharger that is laying around, I checked for space and I cam make it fit instead of the power steering Pump... Loose the power steering and fox the V1 instead.. I however do not want to use it on a manuel pulley that works full time.. I want to make it into a clutch.. a custom bracket and fitting is not a problem I just want to loose the manuel pulley to an electric .. Preffrably at 6-8 PSI and I do not know how to make the conversion.. dont know if its possible..

I don't know much about air conditioner pulleys, but I believe the shaft is magnetically coupled to the pulley and should only require a power supply through a relay.

There might also be some larger air conditioner pulleys fitted to a bus that might give an improved driving force.

All that would then be required is a system for controlling an external device such as the Motec.

Air con pumps generally use an electromagnetic clutch to engage them, and this set up has been used in the past in Super-Turbo charged cars, I seem to remember the Koenig Competition, a Ferrari Testarossa with 2 turbos and a supercharger used this set up. If you're after a cheap and cheerful way to test it, why not use a pressure switch in the manifold? The simplest ones are oil pressure switches, An adjustable one would allow you to set a pressure where the supercharger is disabled and the turbos take over...

Sounds like an interesting project...
