That really quite shocking Toni for a car that was supposed to be undersealed!
Glad your getting it sorted properly this time and not just covering rust with underseal to try and fix/cover up a more serious problem.
Keep the pics coming.

Partially started as you can see...
Hey Toni, that would be middlehurst!

All u.k cars supplied by middlehurst fitted with the cooling systems are fitted that way.

Its not a oem bolt, can get it from any nut and bolt supplier.

Thinking of tak welding the nut on the inside under the carpet, as l have everthing out anyway.

Yeah looks like the cooler connections. I'm really interested to see how this turns out. Whhen the time comes mines getting stripped and POR15'd all on the underside to kerb my rust paranioia! Good luck with it. Also interested in the cost. I'm sure it won't be cheap but well worth it.

Cheers Nozza1 that is very useful! We were wondering who would do such a thing.

I can't tell you how much I nearly cried at all the photos I've got.
Two years ago when I paid to have it undersealed, it would have been better to burn £400 on my logburner frankly.

Not impressed!! How long is this stuff supposed to last? Going by the bit where it's fallen off, it's not a recent thing either.

So need to spend a bit of cash on getting the underside pretty and to find another place to do it again.

Anybody suggest a good place to spend about £2K getting the underside of the car pretty again?

Hi Toni,

If i were you i would visit that place that did this and claim my money back.
They have clearly just sprayed under sealing over the rust and this is the worst thing to do on a car!! The rust just spreads under the coating, and the coating falls off in the end..
Those bastards who did this bad job on your car should be shot in public!!

I am glad that you discovered this in time, and i wish you all the best with the restoration

Terje.

Sounds like exactly what happened really Terje. Bah!!

I'm just pleased I had another look before things got worse, at least it's only surface stuff I'm dealing with.

Now off the car: rear suspension, rear steering rack, subframe, rear diff and the oil coolers

Everything needs something.

Also just realised the body shop that 'undersealed' my car for £400 did it in July 2010 as I have found the bill.
£400 for spraying a bit of stuff about which subsequently fell right off. I am seriously thinking about what to do about that.

Undersealing straight over the rust is easy money for a garage!!!Im sure a lot dont even give it a second thought as long as they get payed up.
It's doing the job and prep properly that takes the time and love!
Hope you dont get any other nasty suprises toni, and it all gets sorted soon.
Keep us updated, this thread is of interest to most if not all UK GTR/Skyline owners
Have an awesome Chrimbo!(your baby will be as good as new again soon).

Took my local shop about 1 week to do the underbody, due to rust, etc.

I would also recommend a body cavity preservation. They do it for all areas inside the body (doors, hood, underbody, or any place they find a whole that may be in touch with water).

This is simple and effective. They simply need to spray a wax (fat) inside the "cavities"

Not a bad idea actually.
Now thinking of the upper bodywork. Do people think a nismo bonnet and front wings would suit yellow? Not sure!

there are certain products on the market for sealing rust or minor rust, they are very very good too.

but why mask a problem, do it properly.

good luck Toni

A Nismo R-Tune bonnet would suit your yellow R-34GTR perfect
I am not a big fan of the Z-Tune front wings, so i would not consider buying those..
