GTR servicing Newbie - help with intervals?

My apologies up front but I have been searching the forum for posts around service intervals and what current GTR owners are doing.

My basic level of understanding is that cars up to 2011 require servicing every 6 months irrespective of mileage. Cars from 2011 onwards are every 12 months.

I am test driving a GTR on Saturday which will be my first experience in one as I currently have a BMW M3. I have mixed feelings about it as my BMW has condition based servicing which requires a visit to the dealer every 2 years.

I am a bit put off by the continual servicing need of th GTR. Especially as I am likely to cover a max of 8k miles a year.

So the question I have is - if I was to buy a 2010 car would I be at a large amount of risk or make a bad decision to have the car serviced annually and not stick to the servicing schedule?

Would really appreciate the advice.

Thanks

As far as I was aware, servicing is every 6 months OR 6000 miles which ever is first.

Your in the same boat as me in regards to mileage a year. My old evo's servicing interval was 6mths or 4500 miles, which I kept to religiously. For my own piece of mind being one reason, and secondly a car that has a full service history all done in a timely fashion is never a bad thing.

If the car was for example to be sat for 6 months in a garage I would still do an oil change just to be sure regardless to if the car had mover 10 miles or 10 inches, but that all personal preference.

Servicing annually is fine given engine and fluids are exactly the same in the my10 and my11 onwards. You might loose some money on resale but have to balance that against what it will cost to service the car depending on how long you plan on keeping it.

I will be continuing to do mine every 6 months out of warranty...mainly because I like the run over to litchfields to look at what I can't afford

Stevie thanks for the reply - my guess would be as long as I had an independent with a good reputation service the car once a year - i.e. Litchfields then i'm guessing I will not loose that much more than standard depreciation. Only planning to keep the car max 3 years.

Where are you based in the midlands and how long does it take you?

Why not just buy a low mileage 2009 model which is about to come out of warranty, then service as often or other wise as you like.

And once you have one, I guarantee you'll think twice about getting rid after 3 years.

Mine's 3 years old come May and I cannot ever see myself without this car, anything else is a serious downgrade.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how far you take the wall with you.

Based just on the outskirts of Rugby...looking at 1.5hours over for me normally. I would not go anywhere else and a full litchfields service history is worth way more to anyone that knows the cars.

Around 1.5+ hours for me from Canary Wharf area to Litchfields, but I usually go early morning.
