Oil has arrived, now what tool?

That's my redline gear oil arrived (light shock proof). Just need to drain the old oil and put the new oil in.
I know how to do it but I don't have the correct tool for opening up the oil drain hatch.
What tool do I need to get?

cheers

hehe it's that simple then?
I haven't been able to lift the car yet as I don't have a ramp yet (ordered) so I can't see for myself. My car is also to low for me to get under. Wife told me to go jump as well when I asked her lol

You need gear box drain keys or you can use half inch socket

I can't remember now but can't you just use the end of a 1/2 inch breaker bar?

Also I have the same problem because having the oil coolers, part of it remains inside.
Perhaps the only way is to drain the oil to fall and turn on for a few seconds the engine so as to leave the residual oil.

the end of a 1/2in breaker bar is what to use, not a 1/2 inch socket, the plug doesn't have a male hex head, it has a female square drive.

I presume your car is 4wd? Don't put your new gearbox oil down through the shifter hole.

Forget that, you want to keep well away from it when changing the gearbox oil.

Take out the level plug from the side of the box and fill through there.

PS, getting sick of GTR Glen? no.........surely not :-)

As long as the car doesn't fall on my head I reckon I can handle this. Cheers

Did you fill the box ok in the end?

I'm doing this at the weekend and was going to fill through the shifter but decided against it on the above advice. But WHY shouldn't you fill through there? Contamination? Bad level reading? Oh wait...GTR-specific advice?

4WD have the transfer box under the gear leaver.
2WD goes into the gearbox.

Because if you have a 4wd transmission if you put gearbox oil through the shifter hole you won't end up with any oil in the gearbox but way too much in the transfere case :-)

See above.
