I know, we've met now though.

I've spent so many years feeling "alone" in the tuning wilderness, not believing anyone to be quite so mental as me - until I met Adam.

I feel David, having followed your ridiculous pursuits, that you too may be cut from the same contaminated cloth.

I see you desperately curb your behaviour now, as I do, but it is still there...

Adam is still a "youngling" and full of the enthusiasm of tuning to the detriment of his wallet. I am a bit older and wiser and happy to benefit from his inspirational endeavours

Comedy aside, the piece is beauiful. Of course now, I want your steering wheel (in matte), his door handles etc etc...

Bloody hell, this addiction is bad

Yep, that's me, just without the financial means to indulge to the ultimate degree.

I fear there is no cure and there is no better platform to feed the addiction than the R35.

That's the reason I can't keep away from the GTR despite my best endeavours. There simply is no better platform for modifications on every level, electronic, cosmetic, straight line and track performance.

It's so good out if the box but do receptive to "improvements".

question for anyone reading:

Following on from my carbon lamination of interior parts, would it be sacrilege to have the carbon fibre akrapovic tips done in a matching 2x2 weave to match the rear splitter?

Currently, they're the only carbon on the car that has no matching weave anywhere else and it bugs me.

That would freak me out having different weave on the car. In truth you will be the only one that notices unless you meet another freak like me.

That's two freaks in three posts about it. Looks to me like freak is more common than not.

doesn't answer the question though!

How easy is it to do and can the akra logos be put back on as those look mint against the carbon? If it's always going to bug you I would get it done.

am waiting for a price.

I can buy the akra logos - they're only stickers.

Heat resistant stickers that are under the clear coat.
There really are bigger issues in the world!

You can buy my Ti tips off me and get those carbon wrapped if you really want to, but I doubt whether any cosmetic carbon will withstand the heat. Akrapovic went to a lot of trouble to come up with a carbon layer and especially resin that will not discolour, melt or otherwise distort with the heat of an exhaust tip.

You could end up going to a lot of trouble and cost to end up with a horrible mess.

I've now got beautiful 2x2 weave on the Knight Racer valance that completely surrounds the Akra tips and nobody's died of aesthetic shock yet...

That's because you lack style and an attention to detail!

You are right that it could end up looking a mess, but the stock carbon tips don't get especially hot when they are already just an outer decorative layer.

Perhaps you are right.

Adam - having seen David's carbon steering wheel at the BBQ, I would say that is a must have rather than worrying about the type of carbon on the tips. People are going to notice that wonderful wheel a lot more...before they vomit on finding you have the wrong weave on your exhaust tips

Am currently mulling over buying David Ti tips from him, just to give me some variety.

Also considering buying a bdl memory box.

The number of times I forget to change the settings on the switches only to think I have missed out on something at the end of a journey.

I think it would be convenient to have the car remember my preferred settings, but then I struggle to come to terms with adding in a box and spending money when I should just remember to do it myself everytime.

Thoughts? Memory Box - Car Kit Company
