Looks good now do the turbos, you wont regret, mine and chris's stage 5 were practically the same so rest assured you'll be safe at the next upgrade.

Turbos are a definite but I need to stage these thInge slowly to get the maximum enjoyment from them.

I'd like to do circlips too and transmission oil cooler at the same time. There's also an issue of combatting noise when the downpipes go on.

I must admit that I was shocked how not loud Anders' car was, yet he had theoretically the loudest combination.

I am going to do I interior dynamat before anything else, just because I can.

I've had a box of 36 sq. ft of extreme sitting in my office for about three years!

Ok more news, and I think this is bigger than my thread but it's not my place to post it elsewhere.

The EcuTek Thread - Feature and product updates - NAGTROC - The Nissan GT-R Owners Club - Page 2

I am now hugely looking forward to seeing this improvement roll out across ecutek. I'll be going back to Iain for a remap when this is available.

To anyone not paying attention, it would seem ecutek have taken a massive stride forward. From the pics it seems they can plot the noise from individual cylinders. Assuming they can do ignition timing on an individual cylinder basis it means they can tell which cylinders are the louder ones and hold back the ignition timing in those cylinders but push the others a little harder.

If five of the six cylinders can run say an extra degree of advance because they are not limited to the same timing as the weakest cylinder (as they are currently), you could see tangible gains in power. In Subaru tuning each degree of advance depending on where it was in the rev range was worth 10bhp or 7lbft (up to a limit of corse). I don't know how ths will translate on an individual cylinder basis on the GTR which is already running double the Subaru levels, but whatever it is, it will be a gain.

Stop worrying about downpipe noise its good
Weve just stripped our new 35 down to the shell and sound deadening on the floor and tunnel is very brittle, compared to an RX7 the sound deadning is horrendous.
I can just pick it of with my fingers, normally you would be there for hours with a heat gun or use dry ice.
So i think if you could be bothered if you pulled out/back off the carpet, you could dynamat it all and think it would make a massive difference.

Adam, this is just part of the updates they have coming. I picked up my car (the graphs were from our MY11 demo) from Ecutek yesterday day afternoon and I'll be working on these new maps over the Bank Holiday weekend.

We have had the per cylinder sensitivity for some time now but now we can actually see what is happening within each cylinder it gives a much clearer picture.

We have been running my car on unleaded (still made 748bhp at lower boost) to stimulate the knock control a bit

I don't think it will make a massive difference to standard engine cars as we don’t really chase every last degree of ignition timing but cars with built engines will benefit. Having said that by the time this round of development is finished we should be able to provide all our customers with a nice update

First chance I have had to properly read your thread and only you could be on 6 pages already Thank you for the kind words

Regards

Iain

cylinder adjustable ignition is pretty good add on , will make these cars even easier to tune.

still think you need to det cans on thou as over the years of tuning turbo cars the knock sensors aren't always doing what the logging says. Need to get the motor to rattle to work out what knock level is actually knock noise not just motor noise.

Hope EcuTek can now get on with the Nissan JUKE software that Iain and Abbey are waiting for, got my built motor ready to go in our Abbey demo.

That sounds a great feature, just need EcuTek to release the user cable so we can update our own cars

Can't be a cable holding that up, how do they flash the ECU to start with ? Must be cut down version of the mapping software that is preventing users uploading maps.

Cable is for the end users, it doesnt affect the mappers.

I hear the cable is very close. Not quite sure what I'll need it for though.
