Depends on the look you are going for..?

Personally; I think matt black looks cheap, tacky and unfinished..

I've gone for satin black. Shouldn't catch the grime as easily as matt.

I have a factory blue R32 GTR and the engine bay is matt black as its standard colour. Personally I think gloss black or body colour looks much better.

I went for gloss black over matte in the bay, easier to keep clean!

I like the pic matt_j posted. Gloss black looks awsome, done it on other cars. But its something you see often.

I definitely think you should go with matte black if you like it because its unique but make sure to do it right and dont make it "too matte" if you know what I mean. Ask a pro bodyshop/paintshop for help.

Why not try chrome paint , I think the gloss black looks sweet, although a lot of the hotrods have them painted body colour and as much as possible hidden, the v dub guys do the same, it can look good too

Some matt Black examples we've done, always found the matt black allows the engine and ancillaries to stand out more.
