Which model year is worth buying used?
Hi. I had a deposit down for the original R35 launch cars but due to circumstances/kids etc I had to pull out.
I am now in the market for a used GT-R but have not kept touch with all the changes. I have read a little about the differences between MY09 and MY10 cars. What surprised me the most was the price difference from new. Are MY10 cars so much better to justify this hike? This leads me to the second question in relation to what used model year car I should be looking at. I would obviously like to save 10k if I can but can the MY09 cars be modified to have the improvements the MY10 cars have? I was under the impression that GT-Rs were very modifiable and an extra 50 bhp isn't particularly earth shattering if you are going to mod anyway? Sorry for the apparently noobish questions but I have been out of the loop and I couldn't find answers to these on searching. I currently drive a B8 S4 and I am actually delighted with it but I just have an itch to change as my children are getting older and I have a 4x4 for practicality. Thanks for your help.

MY10 is probably best buy. has i-pod connection, hard drive, gearbox cooler/warmer, uprated sat nav and binnacle display systems... electric passenger seat adjustment from drivers side (very handy!, now removed)
then buy a COBB and ger the latest gearbox software updates and stage 1. all for around 40k i reckon, makes it a monster bargain.

MY10 would get my vote.
I looked at the my09s buy the iPod connectivity, Bluetooth streaming and other improvements that are on the MY10 over the 09 convinced me, also with MY10 you'll have a bit of manufacturer warranty left. There both very easy to modify, few hundred pounds upgrading the gearbox software and you'll have gear shifts and smoothness that the much raved about 2012 gtr has. A couple of grand and you'll be running easy 600hp. All models of gtr are easy to tune

Thought they all did.

A lot of the late 09 models did have all the MY10 bits on there anyway.

Agree with the above. Mine is a late 59 plate but has the MY10 benefits such as the hdd, satnav, USB etc. apparently the lettering on the brake calipers is another clue As the MY09 had brembo on them, whereas the later models have Nissan stamped on them.
Use the money saved on upgrading the gearbox software as a minimum. Such awesome cars for the money
