Thinking about gtr
Hi thinking of buying GTR have come from evo 9 mr FQ 360
I have a few questions I have 38k-45k to spend so looking at 08-10 plate is there much difference between theses year models ( I will have litchfield stage 2 done pretty much straight away) I have looked at Litchfield service plan does anyone know if that's all in ie with optimisation also are there any additional maintaince cost that crop up regularly excluding tyres and fuel Black edition vs premium And average running cost per year excluding insurance Cheers in advance Brad

the litchfield service plan is all in it tells you in the plan when optimisations are needed.
black v premium is personal choice same as colour choice. running costs? depends on your right foot just make sure tyres and discs and pads are good when you buy one and of course full history a must

alrighty Brad,
remember the name and car from MLR as any said Black edition/premium is down to personal choice, couple of defferences, black edition has darker coloured wheels and the interior lining is darked, clack with a red trim. MY10 cars you start getting into sav nat being standard, as well as ipod connectivity. There is quite a few differences but there all pretty small R35 GT-R

I'd go for 09 onwards and black edition that's what ended up getting, just make sure it's mint condition with full dealer service history and try get one with warranty even if it's only a few months left so if there is anything wrong once you've got it yourl be covered. For 45k yourl easly get a 10 plate I'd imagine, good luck bud your making the rite choice guarantee ya yourl love it

Welcome
![]() Basically: 09/09 - no sat nav and no iPod / USB integration. 09/59 - has sat nav and iPod / USB integration - both well worth having. Personally I think this the best value car for the money. 10/10 - a few other minor changes but nothing that justifies the fairly significant (i.e. a few thousand pounds) price increase. Everything detailed here: R35 GT-R

I had 5 evos in succession.
Have to say my final Evo 9 was until then the best all round car I'd ever had. It has advantages over the GTR but only relating to chuckability, but in every other way the GTR is superior. Never had a 10 as I felt the Evo had lost its way by then.

For that money I'd be looking at a 59 or 10 plate GT-R as you get the nav, ipod etc...
There are some cheaper 09 cars about, but without Nav and as they are now falling out of warranty the prices are a bit lower. People say the 10 cars are not that much better than a 59 cars, which is true. But I still went for a 10 plate as when I bought the cost difference was around £2k which seemed sensible for one 6 months newer and 6 months more warranty. I personally couldn't justify spending £40k on a non-nav car, but that's probably just me. There have been some other threads on running costs, but basicaly it depends on your milage. I believe unless you just want to polish it, put it in the garage and try to impress people by saying you have a GT-R it's not a cheap car to run. I worked out that to do a tank of fuel each weekend (150-180 miles) with an average milage around 8000 it'd cost about £600 in fuel, servicing and general running costs on a monthly basis over a few years. As I don't like going backwards in terms of depreciation (£3000?) and with my insurance around £1000 per year it would cost me £900 per month in real terms to run the car. That's with no finance costs...

8000 miles per year = a set of tyres and brakes every two years roughly.
So £4000 for brakes and tyres plus £1600 in four services, plus £920 in road tax. £6520 over 24 months = £271 per month. A tank of fuel each weekend (8000 miles per annum give or take) is £275 per month in fuel. So that's £546 per month with no other incidental expenses. Like optimisations, wrapping, cleaning stuff etc... Yes it's a bit rough. But if you are going to actually use the car it's not far off. I personally believe too many people underestimate, which is why you see so many for sale with such small milages. I have to wonder how many people bought on finance and then got a shock from the running costs.
